A fast-talking rhymer with a supernatural sense of rhythm, Atlanta’s Yung Mal is quickly becoming one of his city’s best young emcees. Taking the time to comment on his meteoric rise, Mal shares “Goin’ Up,” his latest video. Annihilating a flute-laden instrumental from esteemed producer Pyrex Whippa, the Zone 6 native stacks flex after flex with a rock-steady cadence: “Not too many I can trust, I let those rubber bands bust/I got money Ion even touch, that sh*t collecting dust.” In the video, directed by ShotByWolf, Mal makes the most of his trip to NYC (the setting of his recent “Cocaine Freestyle” clip, directed by Qasquiat), causing a scene in front of the Washington Square arch with his drip and his dance. Recently included on Spotify’s Get Turnt playlist, “Goin’ Up” is the latest video from Mal’s acclaimed 6 Rings mixtape, which earned praise in HYPEBEAST and XXL.

Rogue Wave release new single “Aesop Rock” after 2 year hiatus

Seminal Oakland-based indie rock outfit, Rogue Wave, have returned from a two-year hiatus to delight fans with a new single, “Aesop Rock”. The track’s title is a playful response to the cult-classic rapper, Aesop Rock, naming his latest single “Rogue Wave” earlier this year. It’s anchored by pulsing guitar rhythms and percussion that provides a sense of urgency to the otherwise ethereal arrangements. These more driving elements are complemented nicely by airy synths and meticulously placed guitar leads. You can listen to “Aesop Rock” now on Spotify and most of your other favorite streaming platforms.

There’s nothing more natural than a cowboy in space. I wanted to get in touch with you to share my new space-country single “Collide.”

“Collide” is a space Western, featuring a lonely desperado piloting a rocket ship, yearning for a love lost long ago. The production nods at classic psychedelic country with slide guitars and keyboards shimmering over a finger-picking background.

Salt Cathedral have shared another single from their anticipated debut album coming this May on Ultra Music. “How Beautiful (she is)” breezes in like a rush of air-conditioning on the hottest day of summer with an exuberant beat and verses in English and Brazilian Portuguese. The group says, “‘How Beautiful (she is)’ is inspired by the concept of The Girl From Ipanema, a girl walks by and she’s so beautiful – it reimagines it but saying this time that beauty is in the attitude and it is also in the eye of the beholder as opposed to in society’s standards. The rhythm is our take on Brazil’s baile funk and having MC Bin Laden from Sao Paolo & duendita from Queens, NY jump on this makes it truly global.”

NEW RELEASE: Orkesta Mendoza Releases their new album “Curandero”

Orkesta Mendoza new single “Early in the Morning” is out now. The song is part of their second album “Curandero”, releasing on April 10th. The album was produced by bandleader and founder Sergio Mendoza and mastered by Frank “El Médico” Rodríguez. There is joy in every song of the album. The music flows as if it had been waiting to appear. It crosses and re-crosses that fluid border between Mexico and the United States, mixing rock and pop with ranchera and cumbia alongside snatches of mariachi horns. And hovering over everything is the spirit of ‘60s boogaloo.

Sabiyha today releases a live session version of her debut single ‘Choorile’ (out now). Captured against the rooftops of her Croydon neighbourhood on a moody day in early 2020, the performance captures the gutsy spirit of British-Guyanese Sabiyha’s new track. Produced by Avi Barath out of Dave Okumu’s (The Invisible) studios in Deptford, ‘Choorile’ is a reclamation of a Guyanese term derived from a folkloric tale about a banshee-like creature, which has become short-hand for women who are perceived to be too loud, unruly or assertive.

Brendan Benson shares video for “Richest Man”

“This was a very different video making experience,” Benson said. “I had to pantomime the whole thing with notes from Wartella (who lives in another city), about the different scenes. I had to hold an imaginary umbrella and arrange an imaginary vase with flowers. It was all very mysterious and I had no idea if I was doing a good job or anything until it came back after being animated. Turns out I’m a pretty good mime!”

Devon Williams shares new “Circus World” video via LA Record

Regarding the video, Williams stated: “With ‘Circus World’ I was having a lot of one-sided conversations, and my head kept spinning around in circles. But the world kept spinning and when I stepped out of my head, I felt out of touch. It’s sort of a tightrope between being lost in thought and then just floating through the world without looking for. ‘Circus World’ is just feeling like everything is absurd, and finding the humor in it makes it a little more palatable. Am I a joke for always trying to find to humor in the world? Or is the world full of clowns? Really, it’s tough to decide when the joke has gone too far. The video was made by Mike Cullen. He’s made a handful of videos for me—’Pendulum,’ ‘Puzzle,’ ‘Revelations.’ He and I pulled clips that represented the harsh contrast you’d find on TV and internet. It’s disturbing to try and navigate, and I think the clips show the absurdity of that contrast.”
