Nonesuch Releases “Kraftwerk in a Blackout” from Magnetic Fields’ Quickies Today

Nonesuch Records releases the Magnetic Fields’ Quickies on May 15, 2020. The set—due digitally May 15 and on five vinyl EPs and CD on May 29—features twenty-eight new short songs by Stephin Merritt, ranging in length from thirteen seconds to two minutes and thirty-five seconds. A second song from the record, “Kraftwerk in a Blackout,” was released today; a video may be seen here. Another song from the set, “The Day the Politicians Died,” was previously released. Album preorders are available now at the Nonesuch Store, iTunes, and Amazon, where “Kraftwerk in a Blackout” and “The Day the Politicians Died” may be downloaded immediately; both songs are also available to stream at Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon, and other streaming services. Pre-orders of Quickies from the Nonesuch Store include an exclusive, limited-edition print autographed by Merritt.

Oakland, CA post-rock band Unconditional Arms has released the new album ‘Formation’ via Bay Area indie label Sell The Heart Records – run by Andy Pohl of Tsunami Bomb.

Unconditional Arms is a brainchild of musician Jeff Wright (The American Scene, Compltr). The band also consists of drummer Ross Traver and features musicians Randy Staat, Christopher Sturm, Tyler Thalken, Julie Lydell (who plays piano on “Westbrae Sunrise”), and Scott Goodrich.
