Silverstein Premiere “Madness” ft. Princess Nokia via NYLON

While many bands would take their 20-year anniversary as an opportunity to rest on the laurels of nostalgia, Silverstein (vocalist Shane Told, guitarists Paul Marc Rousseau and Josh Bradford, bassist Billy Hamilton, and drummer Paul Koehler) see the landmark as a time to appreciate how far they’ve come, while also channeling all those years of experience into something new.

Belgian EBM/Industrial Act REALITY’S DESPAIR Announces The Release Of MELANCHOLIC DISPOSITION

“The album consists of rhythmic tracks that take listeners away in the 90s, when EVIL’S TOY and the early works of the SOLITARY EXPERIMENTS clanked the scene. Elements of Old-school EBM add rhythm, so some tracks may fit Post-Industrial dancefloor. Good smooth album, which can be called a great return to the 90s. Again.” – Reflections of Darkness

altopalo share “am I am” from farawayfromeveryoneyouknow out 24th April

“‘am I am’ is about being full of shit”, the band says, likening the track’s subject to “Thoreau with a supermarket. A manchild with a trust fund googling his way through the wilderness after watching The Revenant.”

Made of veterans of the NY scene, altopalo are becoming known for disintegrating the boundaries of ambient, electronic and guitar music, calling to mind other genre-bending masters like Bon Iver, Moses Sumney or King Krule. Beneath their alien musical transmissions, altopalo grapple with modern themes of anxiety, embracing fear and the rejection of self-care as a lifestyle brand.

YUKSEK UNVEILS NEW STUDIO ALBUM ‘NOSSO RITMO’

The result of three years of experimentation and collaboration for no other purpose than shared pleasure, NOSSO RITMO marks a turning point in the story of Yuksek, that of independence and letting go. Detailing how the album came together, Yuksek explains “after the release of my last record I thought I would never do an album again, but I re-discovered the pleasure of making dance music, to share the studio with super talented and lovely artists like Bertrand Burgalat, Fatnotronic, Polo & Pan, to make a track and simply release it on my own label as soon as we are happy with it. And after more sessions with Breakbot, Zombie Zombie and all the amazing guests I have on the record, this album popped up by itself. I only wanted to make tracks with friends and I finally got an album, more easily than anything I did before. No headache, no plan, only music.”

JAKE MARRA ANNOUNCES DEBUT SINGLE ‘THE DAY THAT YOU LEFT’

The Day That You Left will be everything and more for fans of Charli XCX, Troye Sivan and Dua Lipa – heartfelt, sincere lyricism paired with an irresistible beat and killer, sharp production. The sentiment behind the track is intensely relatable; most will identify with the feeling of being fixated on everything said and done by someone just before they leave you for good. Speaking on the inspiration behind the track, Jake explains, “The Day That You Left is the product of all the failed relationships I’ve experienced in my life. It focuses on the denial that floods in when somebody is no longer in your life and the harsh wave of emotions that comes with it. Whether it be a falling out with a friend, a break-up, or a death, most of us have experienced the feelings that come with losing somebody and I wanted to channel that into a dark, pulsating synth-pop track (produced and co-written by the brilliant Ben Oldand) that you can still bop along to while simultaneously crying your eyes out.”

STRFKR New single “Never The Same”

STRFKR’s “Never The Same” is a sharp left turn from anything the band has explored before, hitting hard with a minimal arrangement of acoustic guitars, stripped down drums and Josh Hodges’ familiar weightless vocals all bathed in lo-fi production. The song is warm and direct, with twisting melodies and a straightforward delivery that highlights how vulnerable the band’s lyrics can be. This kind of careful, hushed energy is new territory for STRFKR, and it’s a risky move for a band loved for their exclamatory synth pop. Going out on this ledge results in one of the band’s most immediate and rewarding songs, one that’s strange and beautiful but as intense as a secret being whispered in your ear.

New > Luke Jenner from The Rapture > new solo record announced > “1” > out 15th May

It’s hard to speak about unspeakable things – violence, abuse, addiction and abandonment; especially when these things rupture the innocence of childhood.

But one of the merits of Luke Jenner’s new solo project is that he not only speaks of these things but he does so in a way that wrests them from the dark, small cubicle of shame, placing them firmly in the light so that we, as listeners and fellow survivors, can start to maybe walk with our head high. In this moment of empty pop music séance, the scope and ends of this project – to try and help people – feels almost revelatory.
