Gothenburg’s Vita Bergen grows old disgracefully on rapturous synth anthem

Vita Bergen, aka William Hellström has broken out of his DIY roots, both in sound and in the wider sense.Having begun his musical career in a punk outfit inhabiting the warehouse scene in Gothenburg, a few leaked demos saw 2019 bring on tour dates in Asia, the US, Paris, Madrid and London as well as the festival stages of Europe.

With an expanded, synth heavy sound taking the foreground, while the intensity of the vocal delivery remains, William was nominated in the Best Pop category at the Swedish music prize. Signings to Sweden’s Woah Dad along with Sub-Pop affiliate Glitterhouse Records have opened up his sound to a larger audience.
