Western Centuries To Release Call The Captain April 3 On Free Dirt Records

Throughout Call the Captain, three-part vocal harmonies add heft and meaning to each song, with a distinct rhythmic agreement among the singers, revealing a shared belief of just how music should be made. The album was recorded and mixed in the studio of Grammy-nominated producer Bill Reynolds, former bass player for Band of Horses and one of Nashville’s most innovative roots music producers. “Even if there are drums, electric guitars, and synthesizers, we all like to come at the music in a similar way as we would approach a bluegrass song; supporting the lead singer, singing harmonies, and letting the instrumentalists be featured,” explains Morrison.

Gareth Inkster – Presenting “Used to It”

“I self-produced “Used to It,” using auxiliary percussion noises and an acoustic grand piano to capture my desired sound. While its lyrics are opaquely sad, even despairing, it was important to me to create a steady feel throughout.

During the song’s writing, I was essentially trying to articulate what I was going through so that I could take it out of my head, as it were, and look at it from different angles – study it.”

As a true artist, producer and songwriter, his music will transcend genres. We believe he’s in a lane all of his own.”

Cinematic indie album ‘Leva’ from Guitarist Erki Pärnoja

For his fourth album “Leva”, Estonian guitarist and songwriter Erki Pärnoja offers seven tracks that on the one hand retain influences of its predecessors “Himmelbjerget” (2015), “Efterglow” (2017) and “Saja Lugu” (2018) but on the other hand form a fresh and independent entirety in the musical path of the Tallinn based musician. Recorded in Gothenburg, Sweden early 2019, the album sets a milestone in his discography for many reasons — besides the dreamy-reverby soundscapes and mercurial telecaster lines one can now hear a more orchestral perspective to Pärnoja’s melodic language. A musical turn is also marked by a notable reference to hypnotic grooves and sounds of the 70s.
