Singer/Songwriter/Actor Kyle Meagher releases “Just Talkin’”

Kyle Meagher starts 2020 off with a bang by releasing his latest single, “Just Talkin’,” and its accompanying video (featuring dozens of Kyles, his bandmates and his paramour) just as Netflix posts the final season of his acclaimed show, “Anne with an E,” which was nominated for a Teen Choice Award in 2018. A sweet, upbeat pop song about those first bliss-filled moments of a new relationship, “Just Talkin’” was co-written with Joe Jordan and produced by Mark Liggett (New Kids on the Block, George Michael, Kira Isabella) and Jerry Lane and follows last year’s visual album and EP, “Beats in a Bagel Shop.” In addition to winning a silver medal at the Global Music Awards, the visual album was nominated for “best musical” at the Orlando Film Festival and was an Official Selection at the Toronto Shorts International Film Festival. The EP also featured a remix of his single, “Nowhere,” which was a Top 3 track on Radio Disney.

“My Own Devices”, 4th Album from North SF Bay’s Jan Dylan Hunter

This release Left to My Own Devices is named for the myriad of instruments Hunter used in the production, both acoustic and electric. He’s essentially a guitarist, so you will hear 6 string and 12-string guitars at the core but also mandolin, autoharp and banjo playing. What sets it apart though is the prominent use of electronic sounds like arpeggiated synthesizers, swelling pads, flanged saws and extensive spacey effects.

LICE return with new single ‘Conveyor’ | Announce UK headline tour for March 2020

LICE have spent their early years flirting with mainstream acclaim, while remaining contemporary British punk’s constant outliers. Emerging from Bristol’s vital avant-garde scene with supports for The Fall, Fat White Family and Girl Band, LICE first gained national attention with debut single ‘The Human Parasite’, establishing a literate, eccentric brand of satirical art-punk. In 2018 their arch-advocates IDLES, who took them on the Brutalism and Unity tours, used their own label Balley Records to release LICE’s ‘early years’ material as the Double EP It All Worked Out Great Vol.1+2. This gained critical acclaim from the likes of The Guardian, The Quietus and Loud and Quiet, who declared LICE, “the most exciting, inspiring and genuinely deranged new guitar band in the country”.

Mush share new single ‘Existential Dread’

New LICE track

Lice took nearly two years away to work on new music after finding a shift in their influences and moving towards more esoteric territory. Their first material since this writing break is the bracing, industrially driven “Conveyor”, arguably the best thing they’ve ever done. I’ve included the master here:

ALEX MIDI BUILDS BUZZ AROUND NEW LIVE CONCEPT WITH “NEED YOU TONIGHT”

Beloved within electronic dance music circles both at home in Mexico and abroad, Alex Midi is known for his impressive musical range — but he’s always had a special affinity and strong love for deep house bass and throwback-inspired sounds. “Need You Tonight” fuses both, combining chunky minimal rhythms with ’80s-style synths and groovy guitar riffs.

A record built for late-night listening, “Need You Tonight” also serves as a lead-up to MAGIC NIGHTS, a live show Midi will launch this February in Mexico City. The weekly show will host a series of musicians performing New Wave and synth-pop covers from the ’80s, so get ready to dance.

Jerskin Fendrix shares new single ‘A Star Is Born’

Today, Jerskin Fendrix is back with a new pop banger ‘A Star Is Born’. Named for the 1937 film, Jerskin swaggers with a faux arrogance, ‘call the fire service, ‘cause I’m on fire’. The music is built on a mudslide of his distinctive synth-pop production. Sprinting through exactly 3 minutes of hyperactivity, he tosses references to Nick Cave, Shame, Puccini and Wim Wenders into his mythology.

Swedish-Australian outfit Tiny Fighter present infectious ‘Strangest Thing’ single

“Strangest Thing is a song about the propensity to excuse or downplay toxic behaviour within a relationship. What may seem to others on the outside to be irrational or unacceptable can be sometimes difficult to acknowledge or challenge when in the heat of a relationship with another person. This song is about those two competing perspectives,” says Therese Karlsson.
