I know good advice when I see it, and wrote this song in one sitting.”

oksami (Eric Gao) grew up in Los Angeles, classically trained as a pianist and celloist. It wasn’t until 2015 that he would find his passion in music production. With a love for all genres, oksami draws influences from the likes of Jimi Hendrix to Daft Punk. Currently based in San Francisco, oksami focuses on mixing the lush, fantastical vibes of electronic and orchestral music with traditionally urban genres such as R&B, hip hop, and funk.

The title of 070 Shake’s debut album is Modus Vivendi — a Latin phrase used to reference a way of life in which two opposing parties can coexist peacefully. Art has always been Shake’s way of life, whether writing poetry as an outlet for depression or crafting playful rhymes about her teammates on bus rides to high school basketball games. “It was an escape for me with all of the frustrations and voices that were going on in my head. Will Bryant’s falsetto is reminiscent of some of the best ensemble singing of the 1970s. A choral feeling of freedom combined with fat analogue modular synthesizer melodies and psychedelic waves. The heavy bass (Bryant) and huge drums (Zack Alford) create a solid soulful basement. Will’s voice is joined by the angel Lettie at the end when they both go flying away into the universe.
