Mighty Oaks share “Forget Tomorrow,” the second single off their forthcoming third album, ‘All Things Go’

Touring musicians know it all too well: Packed bags and long goodbyes, exchanging the comforts of home for a rumbling tour bus or solitary hotel room, often for months at a time. This is reality for Mighty Oaks as well, and since all the band members of the Berlin-based trio have become fathers they find it especially tough to leave home. Playing live is definitely something we thrive on as a band. The energy of a live show, the immediate feedback from the crowd: those things made us the band that we are today, and are the reason why we play music”, says singer Ian Hooper. “But leaving the family isn’t easy for anyone, especially when you mix in different time zones and crazy schedules. I met my wife right before the band found success. Ever since she’s known me, she’s known me as a touring musician. No matter how many times I’ve left to go on tour, it’s always like the first time for her, and it never gets easier for her to watch me walk out the door.”

Sharing real life snapshots in song, Rence magnifies his personal perspective through a genre-less palette, bordering pop, alternative, electro, indie and hip-hop all at once, yet never dipping into one for too long. The Los Angeles-based artist, who was born in D.C., spent his formative teen years in Seattle and then moved to New York to attend NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, first allowed listeners to hear this irresistible inner monologue on his breakthrough independent project, Pink. The project’s lead single “Baby Blue” racked up over 4 million Spotify streams as his total tally approached 8 million. Along the way, peers such as Chelsea Cutler and FLETCHER lent support as critical acclaim came from Hilly Dilly, Lyrical Lemonade, Ones To Watch, Elevator Magazine, and more. Tastemaker Zane Lowe handpicked “Ways To Go” as his “World Record” on Apple Music’s Beats 1. Rence’s current EP, Fall 2019, is out now and features standout tracks “Darkside” and “I know.”

Slumberland announces deluxe vinyl-only reissue of East Village’s ‘Hotrod Hotel’ singles collection due Jan. 24

East Village are one of the great lost bands, a group whose music has only grown in stature since their premature demise in the spring of 1991. Along with other legendary bands like Big Star and The Action, who also failed to fully stamp their mark whilst active, East Village made pop music that was timeless, but out of step with the musical environment around them.

Kevin Krauter Announces New Album ‘Full Hand’ and Shares “Surprise” Single/Video

Indiana-based songwriter Kevin Krauter announces his second album, Full Hand, out February 28th on Bayonet Records, and presents the single/video, “Surprise.” Following his 2018 debut Toss Up, a quiet album that was built on intricate guitar riffs that looped back on themselves to create a feeling of sunlit calm, Full Hand dives further into the world he’s created. The songs are evocative of late afternoon light, or dust settling on a creaky floorboard, but with lyrics that probe Krauter’s personal life, grappling with sexuality and religion, while exploring what it means to grow up, grow more critical, and, in turn, more self-confident.

ASHS – ‘Paranoid’

“I’m on a slow-burning, soul-searching mission.

“Paranoid,” my latest single, perfectly introduces the next phase of my project. I wanted to experiment with hitting a little harder both musically and lyrically.

“Paranoid” gives an audible sneak peek into my subconscious, encapsulating the feelings of anxiety and mistrust in the people around me. It’s both an exploration and a revelation.”
