Christmas wouldn’t be Christmas in this country without the tree decorating, stocking hanging, present giving, movie watching, turkey eating and John Lewis ad watching. These and other traditions are what set the festive season apart from the rest of the year. But Christmas traditions are not the same everywhere in the world.
Travel to Austria and you can race through the streets dressed as a terrifying demon in a traditional ‘Krampuslauf’. Jet to Japan and you can swap your usual turkey roast for a customary KFC family bucket. Or head to Norway and you can join the hunt for witches and evil spirits on the night before Christmas.
