GREY RELEASES NEW TRACK “GREY AREA” FT. SOFIA CARSON!
Grey is back with a hot new track “Grey Area” featuring Sofia Carson. The song depicts that relatable feeling of being in “love limbo”: you don’t know where you stand with someone, but you can’t speak up in fear of ruining what you have. The song opens with choppy, ear-catching strings when Sofia’s emotive vocals enter. “I can’t stay with ya, in this grey area,” Sofia expresses her uncertainty with the current state of her relationship, or lack thereof. Grey’s own Kyle Trewartha’s vocals come in to pair effortlessly with Sofia’s in the second chorus creating a remarkable male-female duet. The two face-off in frustration, but little do they know, they are both fighting on the same side, feeling the same inner struggle.

Lynne Hanson (Americana) announces new album produced by Jim Bryson
Canadian singer/songwriter Lynne Hanson is set to release her seventh studio album, Just Words, on February 7, 2020. The new album marks something of an artistic departure for Hanson, who purposely tapped producer Jim Bryson (Oh Susanna, Skydiggers) to push and pull her outside of her comfort zone. Contoured and textured, the result is a more powerful sound than on efforts past, more Steve Earle than Gillian Welch, with a vulnerable underbelly.
CHIEF STATE Drop New Single “Deciduous” Off Forthcoming Album
Chief State’s guitarist Nik Pang says, “Deciduous is a song about the transition in seasons from summer into fall and winter. As the weather gets colder and the days get shorter, a lot of people, myself included, tend to isolate themselves and get into a really negative headspace. The song uses the metaphor of deciduous and evergreen trees to explain how some really struggle through the colder months, while others remain unchanged. As much as the song is about struggling with seasonal depression, it still keeps a relatively positive outlook, because after all, it never stays cold forever.”

Despite hailing from the landlocked city of Calgary, Canada, Port Juvee’s sound feels unequivocally tied to New York City post-punk with a dash of coastal California surf. Maybe it has to do with the nondescript landscape of endless prairie land and suburban sprawl, but these Canadians have taken to Calgary’s ebbing punk and art scene for solace.
