Rose Cousins’ new single and video “The Benefits of Being Alone”

Of the new video, which is co-directed by Shehab Illyas and Cousins with illustrator Hannah Emmett, Cousins says, “I saw the whole video play in my head shortly after we finished recording the song. I imagined a Wes Anderson type scene, contrived and idyllic, with many hands helping to hold the whole thing together. This video, song and my new record, Bravado, are about juxtaposition. What version of what story is true?”

Out now Russian Baths’ debut album “Deepfake”

Russian Baths fuses the abrasive sounds of ’80s New York, the angular outbursts of DC hardcore, shoegaze’s torrents of noise and the suffocating anxiety of the Information Age. Their operation goes deep. One part horror movie soundtrack, serene still life and personal confession, the band’s music is at once imposing and intimate. As with their namesake, Russian Baths’ work is a place where hidden things happen, sometimes beautiful, sometimes tragic, always obscured, but calling to be explored.

Pharmakon announces 2020 European tour dates, ‘Devour’ LP out now on Sacred Bones

Devour marks the fourth full-length record from New York City based artist Margaret Chardiet’s project Pharmakon, and the most intense output of her 12+ years creating industrial noise.

Like her previous albums, Devour comes with a strong concept that is exorcised throughout the five demolishing tracks on the album, using imagery and language of self-cannibalism as allegory for the self-destructive nature of humans. Each of the five songs echoes a stage of grief associated with this cyclical chamber of self-destruction and the chaos surrounding us that leads us to devour ourselves in an attempt to balance the agony.

Marinho unveils new video, “Joni,” in celebration of Joni Mitchell’s birthday

Portuguese alternative folk-rock artist, Marinho, has released a new live video for “Joni,” in celebration of Joni Mitchell’s birthday. Marinho was inspired to write the song about “a woman, an artist, a painter, an amazing human being that I never met… but feels like we already met,” after watching the documentary “Woman of Heart and Mind” as a teenager. This video was filmed at the sold-out release show for Marinho’s debut album, ~ (tilde), on Oct. 24 at ZBD in Portugal, where many great artists, such as Angel Olsen, Kevin Morby, Weyes Blood, Devendra Banhart and more, have had their first shows in the country. Marinho drew great inspiration from watching performances at ZBD, and had the chance to open for Anna St. Louis there in May of 2019. At this special album release party, she played all of ~ in its entirety, and “Joni” closed out the show before the encore.

ESOTERIC Premiere Entire New Album, ‘A Pyrrhic Existence’

ESOTERIC comment: “‘A Pyrrhic Existence’ is an album that deals with some of the darkest sides of the human psyche and the harsh realities of existence. The concepts of the lyrics deal with death, suffering, tragedy, lies and the breakdown of the human psyche. The title is a reference as to how existence can be perceived as something that inflicts so much devastation on the survivor, that it becomes tantamount to defeat. The music is a progression from previous albums, and is of an extremely psychedelic and experimental nature. It can be likened to a vicarious journey through the twisted passages of the broken mind.”

KYSHONA TACKLES “FEAR” IN NEW SINGLE OUT TOMORROW

On Friday, November 8th, Kyshona will release “Fear,” a swampy new track from her forthcoming album Listen, out February 28, 2020. The song, written with her brother and fellow artist Kelvin Armstrong, premiered exclusively at The Boot earlier this week. “In an age in which we all have a digital platform to express ourselves, we seldom feel heard. Kyshona, the electrifying Nashville-based singer-songwriter, knows that better than anyone,” said The Boot. “Kyshona effortlessly grooves between roots, R&B and folk music. On ‘Fear’…she digs deep into a swampy hook that dredges the depths of our subconscious. While the song explores all of the ways we tell ourselves what we can’t do, Kyshona imbues it with the determination needed to free ourselves from our doubts.”

From Hull he came…but this is no ordinary musician. Hip-Hop obsessive, DAN has never let his unlikely base hold him back – nor his background. Finding himself drawn to all elements of black culture from an early age, particularly the vibrancy and unapologetically authentic nature of the music, fashion and values, he surrounded himself with people from all backgrounds – religion, culture, class and lifestyle completely irrelevant.
