Queer LA-based electronic artist Saro is here to express his lost love in his latest music video for “Snowblind” inspired by D’Angelo’s classic “How Does it Feel” music video.
Saro’s adaptation of D’Angelo’s video is paralleled through intense black and white shots of Saro’s naked body. The video emotes raw feeling through each twist and turn of his interpretive dance signifying how love is snowblinding for Saro with the inability to see the good from the bad.
Saro is a biracial gay man who has a lot to say about race, gender politics, and sexuality. At 19 years old, he decided to delve into the world of singing and writing with his close friend Simone Battle who passed away soon after collaborating. He wanted to tap into his grief on his 2016 debut In Loving Memory under his newfound moniker Saro, an homage to The Smiths’ “Pretty Girls Make Graves.” The next year, he found himself on tour with Miguel and on a track with Flight Facilities, all before the release of his second body of music, Boy Afraid.
