CUP (Nels Cline & Yuka C. Honda) Announce New LP ‘ Spinning Creature’ via Northern Spy

CUP is the duo of Nels Cline (the guitarist/composer best known for his work with Wilco) and Yuka C Honda (the composer/keyboardist/programmer best known for her work with Cibo Matto). Combining aspects of electronica, folk, improvisation, and some heated rocking, this debut recording—perhaps predictably—defies easy categorization. But fear not! Contained within this package is a sometimes sweet, sometimes jarring, but always compelling excursion into what a shared sensibility sounds like, and after taking the journey that is Spinning Creature it all feels just right as CUP’s music veers from the accessible to the abstract and back.

LILY KERSHAW Shares “Always & Forever” Co-Written With Emma Roberts

Los Angeles singer/songwriter Lily Kershaw shares a new track, “Always & Forever,” from her upcoming sophomore album Arcadia, out November 15th. On “Always and Forever,” Lily uses the metaphor of a bad relationship to explore her reservations around the concept of time and infinity. While she’s primarily known as a folk-pop artist, Lily consistently pushes the limitations of that label. Originally written as a guitar-based tune with her good friend, actress Emma Roberts, Lily instinctively decided to add synth, creating an 80s sonic texture without succumbing to any of the tropes found in today’s new wave nostalgia.

Sudan Archives releases “Confessions” video

Director Nathan R. Smith (DRAM, Joey Bada$$, 2 Chainz) adds “We wanted to showcase female excellence in a unique and dynamic way. The world these women live in is aesthetically bleak but they bring beauty to it through their positive vibe and energy. I like to think of the women in the video as the angels that Sudan references in the pre-chorus. As the world around them is not very pretty and begins to fall apart towards the end, they maintain their confidence and are completely unfazed.”

FADER streaming new Half Stack EP [ffo: Dick Stusso, Natural Child, Orville Peck]

Yesterday we teamed up with FADER to stream the new EP from Oakland group Half Stack. On Aw Hell, the band double down on the twangy indie that has made them a staple of Bay Area lineups and received glowing praise from critics. It’s a stripped down, minimalistic approach to songwriting that works as the perfect soundtrack to waning summer days spent on the porch, High Life in hand and friends nearby.

MADDEE SHARES NEW SINGLE ‘WWY’

‘WWY’ – an acronym for ‘Where Were You’ – finds the 21-year-old artist collaborating with Louie Short to mine personal experiences once more, this time with MADDEE turning attention to times of abandonment in close relationships. Speaking about the track she says: “‘WWY’ was written about a really bad night I had where I was seeking comfort and support from the person who I thought was supposed to be there for me and quickly found out that they weren’t. I thought I needed their support and in the end, I had to learn how to provide that for myself.”

The latest cut to be taken from the EP further examines the overarching subject of the forthcoming collection, wrestling with the ramifications of a negative relationship and the emotions that MADDEE felt throughout that period. From love to infatuation and naivety, the complex theme of love and emotion is further accentuated through the accompanying scarlet artwork.

Mel Monaco- Catching Ladybugs (Skope Magazine)

Little bit about Catching Ladybugs – When I was 18, I made a list of “things I want to accomplish before 30”, writing and releasing 5 original records was on that list. Now in my 30th, I did it! We did it! Dreams (with a lot of hard work) do come true.

The Eiffels team with Forbes & X Ambassadors for new music video release

Los Angeles rock trio The Eiffels have prepared a brand new music video for their most recent single, “Spin Around,” which was released earlier this year. The fun, neon-soaked visuals perfectly accentuate the ’80s-inspired dance rock of the three-minute single. And, to add to the cool factor, the Matt Robertson-directed video was shot in the room used as Bruce Wayne’s minimalist “Batcave” is Christopher Nolan’s 2008 hit blockbuster The Dark Knight.
