When we wrote ‘Bet On You,’ we started with four chords on an acoustic guitar and the opening vocal melody. We replaced the guitar with a Mellotron over a hip hop beat and it drastically changed the feel, allowing us to explore more dramatic melodies and lyrics.”

Esquire Premieres New Grace Potter Track “Back To Me”
Produced by Potter’s husband Eric Valentine, Daylight is Potter’s first new album in four years and took root at the couple’s home in Topanga Canyon, Calif. The album mirrors many of the emotional events Potter endured over the last several years including a painful divorce and the breakup of her band- as well as far more joyful events like a new marriage and the birth of her first child. Daylight was recorded at Valentine’s Barefoot Recording studio in Hollywood and features guitarist Benny Yurco, drummer Matt Musty, Benmont Tench and Larry Goldings on keys as well as backing vocals from Lucius.

Alexandra Savior shares new single “Saving Grace” with official video, out now via 30th Century Records
“Portland’s mystery girl (VICE)” may no longer be a kept secret, but Alexandra Savior can never be fully figured out. With her latest single “Saving Grace,” she also releases a cinematic noir film directed by Joseph Bird (Blonde Redhead) — complete with a motorcycle ride through the desert and Savior’s signature stare piercing the lens outside a drive-thru chapel — to accompany the already sweeping track. Savior painted the single artwork herself, and it showcases that see-right-through-you Mona Lisa smile that we see in the video.
Describing the video in her own words, Savior says:
“This video was made with intuition… We went to Vegas to capture the lights and the energy of this specific representation of America. I think the character is in a contemplative state where she is fantasizing rather than living, which is the expectation of Vegas for most of us.”
