High Priestess Of Rock, Eddy Lee Ryder, Bewitches With New Single

In a respectably seedy corner of New York City resides one of the great characters of music, Eddy Lee Ryder, a singer-songwriter whose true-life stories are infinitely more eye-popping than any number of fabricated nonsense you get from some of the pretenders out there. Channelling not only artists such as Stevie Nicks, Kate Bush and Elvis Costello but also the wild 70’s fug of Times Square and 42nd Street bars, Eddy is the conduit through which the charismatic phantoms of yore travel on the way to the 7-11. Following the first track from her forthcoming EP, Small Apartment,’There In Dreams’ is her new single, a beautiful arrangement of delicate piano, atmospheric symbol rolls and Eddy’s bewitching vocals.

DEF CON SOUND SYSTEM’S BRAND NEW VIDEO “MY LOVE IS THE DAGGER” HAS EXCLUSIVE WORLDWIDE PREMIERE ON VENTS MAGAZINE TODAY

Of the “My Love Is The Dagger” video, Sewell commented, “We filmed it at the legendary Bovine Sex Club in Toronto. I wanted something that looked, and felt like an intimate rockabilly video. Something slow moving and very simple that wouldn’t take anything away from the actual song itself. ‘My Love Is The Dagger’ is a really heavy song about how difficult personal relationships can be for artists and the people they love, and for those who love them in return. We’ll save the big budget car chases, explosions, and bankrupt-the-band video eye candy for whatever video we make next.”

Matt Valentine, of Tower Recordings, MV & EE, Wet Tuna, and more, is releasing his new solo album

In this life there are two kinds of people, those riding the vapor trail left behind by Matt Valentine (aka MV) and those left woefully unprepared to deal with navigating his slide out of the ether. Over the years Valentine has served as a singular spiritual Sherpa, changing form when necessary. From the psych-scratched inklings of Tower Recordings to the cosmic folk he divined while traversing the Golden Road, solo jaunts, a hundred and counting CD-rs with his partner Erika, and on into the current beacon of blues transmissions emanating from the nocturne pulpit of Wet Tuna, any aesthetic differences never overpower the magnetic pull of MV radiating like a beacon. There’s a lot to wade through if you’re just breaking the veil, but that’s all the more reason to nod into the Preserves for a poke around.
