Stimmerman – ‘Painted Smile’

Stimmerman (real name Eva Lawitts) shares, “‘Painted Smile is the final track off of my forthcoming album, ‘Goofballs,’ which is the first full-length album I’m releasing under the name Stimmerman. The album is more or less about loss and survivor’s guilt- it’s a meditation on a friend’s fatal drug overdose at a young age through that lens. Side A of the album focuses on looking back at the environment in which our friendship started- pressures imposed on children to be successful, growing up too fast in all the wrong ways, and the often-debauched nature of our great and terrible adolescence here in Brooklyn. Side B, which is home to the song Painted Smile, centers me more as an unreliable narrator, and features songs about grief and culpability in a close friend’s death some of which are, I believe, misguided.

TR/ST Shares “Destroyer” Track | On Tour This Fall | ‘The Destroyer – 2’ LP Out 11/1 On Grouch Via House Arrest

“The dark-wave electro-pop is well matched by Alfons’ soothing vocals. The moody lyrics juxtaposed with the turgid melody of “Destroyer” are indicative of what’s to come on the rest of the album, a clear temporal departure from the first half of the LP. Alfons, who spent the past five years re-working the tracks on Destroyer considers this project his greatest creative risk to date.”

Bananagun – Do Yeah 7″

Bananagun’s 7″ Do Yeah is out next Friday. Just wanted to send it your way and hear your thoughts on the wildly fun 3 songs. Let me know if you have any plans on covering the release.

There are some records that you come across that sound like you’ve discovered an unearthed gem from a previous decade; a lost moment in musical history that has cruelly been sat gathering dust in a record shop for years. From the opening seconds of Bananagun’s “Do Yeah” – which stirs to life in an intoxicating blend of 1970s afrobeat, fuzzed out psychedelia and immersive pop – this very much feels like the case of discovering something special.

Rollingchild Makes It Rain in New Music Video “My Money (Grows On Trees)”

“I wrote this song when I first moved out to California in 2011. The song is clearly about growing and selling weed which is exactly what I was doing at the time. It was just a fun song I thought my fellow growers would like, and when Randy heard the demo he wanted to cut the track then! It wasn’t until I eventually came to Atlanta in 2018 where Randy convinced me to let him produce and record the track for the album, and it’s a BANGER!
