Güten Morgan New Album ‘Trash Day’

The music is a mix of Classic Rock and 90’s rock – think early Train, Matchbox 20/Rob Thomas, and a shot of Gin Blossoms. Differing from most lead vocalists, Morgan has a rich baritone voice (like a softer side of Eddie Vedder.) Morgan is a practicing radiation oncologist (treating cancer patients) who is also a musician, and so his work to date is studio based rather than touring. With the exception of 2 lead guitar and bass tracks, the songs on the album were all not only all played by, but mixed by Morgan as well.

Jeffrey Gaines’ acoustic cover of In Your Eyes was the stimulus for arranging and recording an acoustic take of the Zeppelin classic Over The Hills And Far Away, and the rest of the Trash Day album flowed from there. The album is strongly guitar and percussion based, but with attention to vocals – even including an a cappella gospel-blues cover, a tribute to part of his musical heritage. The album consists of 8 original tracks, and 2 covers.

NEWS: Dan Auerbach-produced Jimmy “Duck” Holmes album ‘Cypress Grove’ out October 18th on Easy Eye Sound.

Jimmy “Duck” Holmes wants you to visit his juke joint in Bentonia, Mississippi. Consider his new album, the 11-song Cypress Grove, your invitation.

Produced by Dan Auerbach of the Black Keys for his Easy Eye Sound label and available on October 18, Cypress Grove is an aural postcard of a typical Saturday night at Holmes’ Blue Front Café, America’s longest operating juke joint. The album is anchored by tradition — which is natural, since Holmes is the last of the original torchbearers of the rural style known as Bentonia blues—but it’s also explosive, raw, and unpredictably in the moment.

BBC Horizons Act ‘Codewalkers’ share new ‘Roadman’ Single | Out 30th August 2019

After being selected for this years BBC Horizons project, figureheaded by BBC Presenter Bethan Elfyn, Codewalkers find themselves with more momentum than ever.

Cardiff-based brothers: Producer, Ben Dabson and Guitarist, Dafydd Dabson, have been making noise together since before they could talk. Codewalkers was formed in 2016 when they recruited vocalist Seun Babatola to provide a message to their music. The trio were joined in 2018 by Bassist Chay Lockyer and Drummer Aled Lloyd.

Their music is a mix of rock, rap and reggae. Ambitious in scope and featuring a mix of live and electronic instruments, it moves from catchy reggae hooks to hip-hop grooves. Often drawing on his childhood experiences in Nigeria, lyricist Seun Babatola can cover serious issues in his writing – gender, violence, societal expectations – but the music is always full of life and energy. It makes you dance, it makes you think.

Alok and Zafrir link up on anthemic banger ‘Vale Vale’

Brazilian bass innovator Alok has collaborated with Israeli artist Zafrir on rousing new single ‘Vale Vale’, out on Friday 9th August via Alok’s own CONTROVERSIA imprint.

Marking Alok’s tenth release of the year, ‘Vale Vale’ has an anthemic, big room feel to it, with the sounds of chanting crowds audible from the offset. These chants culminate around the track’s unrelenting build-ups and predictably mammoth drops, making for a particularly memorable piece of music. Alok and Zafrir previously worked together on 2018 summer smash ‘United’, with the Israeli also making music with the likes of Armin Van Buuren and Vini Vicii.

New video: Edinburgh natives Liimo release video for new single ‘If You Love Me’

Speaking about the video, Jamo explains, “We’d always had a karaoke theme in mind for this song as it felt like a bit of a heartbreak anthem to us, and working with Theo was amazing, he really brought it to life. We were out for a drink one night in this amazing neon-clad venue in Soho and knew straight away we just had to shoot a music video there. The video nearly never came to be! We kept setting off the alarms with our smoke machine and the restaurant were going to pull the plug – but it was worth the risk in the end.”
