“‘Building a Machine’ is more of a straight-up rock song than our first single, but it continues the lyrical themes from ‘Down To The River’. Several of the songs on the album are interconnected lyrically, and these two are good examples of that. On this one we played a lot with building different dynamics around a very simple riff – in terms of drum rhythms, vocal-harmonies, and rhyme patterns in the vocal delivery. Everything slowly builds throughout the song, and finally let’s go in the end.” the band explains.
