dodie shares new single “Guiltless”

Following a sold out UK and European Spring tour and the release of her third EP Human which debuted at number 5 on the album charts earlier this year, dodie has shared her latest single “Guiltless”, which premiered last night as Annie Mac’s Hottest Record on BBC Radio 1. dodie explains “‘Guiltless’ is about a difficult topic that I could never talk about publicly, so I wrote about it instead. There are those complex relationships in life where there’s so much love, but so much anger, disbelief, guilt, expectation and resentment. This is a song exploring that; from a safe, vague-ish distance, I hope!”.

Wintersleep premiere incredible animated video and announce UK + EU tour dates

“We wanted “Forest Fire” to be a stage play on a grand scale, in which Mother Nature conquers over all. This was a fun video to make. Members of the band sent video performances over iPhones – I mapped and built these into “puppet faces” on the houses, with the aim of giving each house its own personality, as our “hero house” gently serenades his neighbor, soothing her with love throughout a series of catastrophic events. A theatric narrative of random events occurring over time, culminate in a fiery conclusion, vying for an operatic and dark undertone. There’s a sort of “digital veneer” that some might find mildly abrasive – while others might see this as “painterly”. Either way, what’s for sure is that the pianos are lightning, the guitar solo is definitely fire, and the bass guitar is the ocean that holds it all in.”

New Music // Alias Patrick Kelly

Patrick Kelly, a singer-songwriter from Atlanta, nods to a sense of musical otherness in his self-given stage name: Alias Patrick Kelly.

“As a songwriter, sometimes it feels like I almost don’t have a hand in writing the song, you know?” he says, acknowledging his second self: his alias. “Every now and then I get a song idea that just drops in my lap, kind of effortlessly. It almost feels like it didn’t come from me.“
