Music: Edith is the Sound of Youthful, Contemporary Pop Bliss on ‘Afterparty’

Working with The Sonic Crew (Idris Elba/ Diplo/ Lethal Bizzle) has brought her distinctive brand of pop music to life. Born in Romania, before relocating to England, she began writing songs at school as an outlet for emotions she was unable to vocalise. Creating music was the only path from a young age, with Edith joining any musical assembly available at her school, while also learning guitar and piano. Her mother, who was also in a band, was a massive influence on her musical journey.

Experimental Harpist Sarah Pagé Releases “Ephemeris Data” Single

The sound of the harp immediately pulls the attention elsewhere than one’s immediate surroundings. It’s like a little bell ringing somewhere hinting at a long forgotten memory of another place or time. It’s like hearing an echo from some other time or life. Her hands and her harp now know each other so well that she tries not to get in the way or interfere with that relationship. Her hands are connected to her subconscious on a deeper level than passing thoughts so for Ephemeris Data she wanted to leave them in charge and they guided the composition.

THIS GIFT IS A CURSE Release Music Video for New Song, “Monuments for Dead Gods”

The band comments on the track: “‘Monuments for Dead Gods’ is a dark sludge metal epos that pays homage to the inner destructive forces that seem to inhabit all humankind. A never-ending turmoil that both drives man and in the end, lead him to his inevitable doom. Both on a personal level and as a collective, the lyrics tell about a protagonist who finds himself falling in a complete darkness, not really knowing how or why he ended up there. He then performs a ritual to get free from this captive state, uttering ancient words into the abyss as well as carving old forbidden symbols into the framework of reality. Doing so manages to awake a dead star, creating a black hole and setting in motion the destruction of the world.

KATORI WALKER SHARES “DOLLA SAVE ME” MUSIC VIDEO TODAY

Once again, the artist delivers a captivating visual befitting of the music. This time around, he takes over a different kind of church. As the congregation takes turns spitting his rhymes, collection plates of stacks bounce across the pews. However, tithing goes the other way in this case! Highlighted by a gospel-style chant, his signature storytelling, and nimble flows, the clip mirrors the song’s dynamic spirit and soul. It also illuminates just how much he stands out from the pack, merging old school word-craft and modern experimentation for a sharp style of his own.

Petra Glynt – ‘New Growth’

The “New Growth” video carries these feelings of anger and empowerment. I chose to create my own version of a scene from David Lynch’s Wild At Heart. The love, passion, hope, and strength the couple share in this particular clip is visceral. Replacing the hetero relationship with my best friend and I was a conscious choice. I want to see more images of empowered womxn, non binary, and trans folx in lead roles. I want to see queerness up front and center. The couple may not know where they’re going, but together they are full of hope and passion; an emotional combination I like to cling to.
