Seattle’s The W Lovers channel heartfelt Americana

Today we have the pleasure of sharing with you some of the most authentic music coming out of the Northwest. The W Lovers are a duo comprised of Fleur and Wesley Wood, who met while Fleur was on tour from New Zealand in 2011, and needed to purchase an ampflier for her North American leg – fate would have it that Wesley was working that day. The two started performing together in 2014, and have been perfecting their brand of rootsy Americana ever since.

Last week we teamed up with Jammerzine to premiere their video for “Times a Liar”, the second single off their sophomore album This Little Town. It’s a humble song, grounded by deep bass and the earthy strum of Fleur’s guitar, with flourishes from Wesley’s mandolin.

Riding a hyperactive beat, marked by horror-movie pianos and clattering hi-hats, Purpp flashes several different flows and reels off a few tweet-worthy witticisms: “I got a glock ‘fore I got a diploma/Now I got 10 mil, so I got no diploma!” “Walk On Water” follows the otherworldly video for the Kenny Beats-produced “Repeat,” and presages the release of Lost Planet 2.0 EP, dropping later this week.

W.C. Beck Shares New single “(Holding On) To A Coast”

“Sometimes you’ve just got to trust someone’s resume, and W.C. Beck has definitely earned his stripes through the Americana scene, most recently with NYC act Monteagle. But, while his current outings might hit out at that, his new solo work takes on a broader, almost country vibe (no complaints from this Texan). He’s got this naturally soulful voice that winds down the long stretch of dirt highway; he also gets some excellent help form the superb organ grinder and horn section, both building the ballad into an elevated piece that’s perfect for ambling about today.” – Austin Town Hall
