John Lennon’s ‘Imagine – Raw Studio Mixes’ To Be Released On Vinyl

One of the many highlights of John Lennon’s Imagine – The Ultimate Collection, the immersive and intimate super deluxe edition of his legendary solo album, released this past October on what would have been his 78th birthday, were the Raw Studio Mixes. Helmed by engineer Rob Stevens under the supervision of Yoko Ono Lennon, these aggressively visceral and emotionally touching mixes capture the exact moment Lennon and The Plastic Ono Band recorded each song, raw and live on the soundstage at the center of Ascot Sound Studios, at John & Yoko’s home in Tittenhurst. The Raw Studio recordings are devoid of the effects (reverb, tape delays, etc.) that were added when co-producers John, Yoko and Phil Spector created the additional layers of production sound and added John’s orchestral arrangements in New York.

The NorthmeN Release Official Music Video for “Forevermore”

Watertown, NY Heavy Rock Band The NorthmeN has released the official music video for their single, “Forevermore.”

Obscure – Alone (feat. Shanice)

“Alone”, a track produced by T7, is a rumination on the darker periods in the artist’s life, reflecting his early battles with depression and anxiety.

Merival – My New Song: “I With Mine”

For months on end, I had weekly intense dreams about someone I had dated 6-7 years prior, someone who played a very formative role in my life. It began to feel like a funny loop I had created for myself – this magnetism to somebody who had hurt me very badly but who had nothing to do with my current life. I feared I might have to deal with these thoughts for years to come. I felt powerless. If that person had called me up and asked to see me during that period, I don’t think I would have been able to say no.

THRILLSVILLE Releases Dark Electronic Single, “Second Sleep”

“Reworking and reinterpreting a song wasn’t a stretch for me. It’s kind of like taking a theme and varying it when I’m composing for film, TV or video games. It’s fun to take the same source material and put it in a completely different musical world. I’ve always loved Stolen Babies’ version of ‘Second Sleep’ and getting Dominique from SB to add background vocals to my version made it really special for me. It wouldn’t have been right without her. I feel like the dreamy and moody quality of the original rock version translated even better with this dark dance version.” – THRILLSVILLE

The King Khan Experience announces first wide release of ‘Turkey Ride’

While young King Khan was making these frequent trips (not only the lysergic kind) to the cities of Bordeaux and Berlin, he was especially mesmerized by the decadent bohemian, relax-your-mind mentality of frogs and krauts alike. He met Dan Ra and waltzed into his studio and within a few days and nights recorded what would be the beginning of the King Khan Experience. After the fourth visit, King Khan walked into the Red Roses (notorious 24 hour drinking hole in Kreuzberg) after an all night recording session. There he met a strange 70 year old African man from Somalia who happened to be wearing the same hat and scarf as King Khan. The man stared into Khan’s eyes and yelled “YOU LOOK LIKE ME!”
