Skope Magazine – Jamie Adam (Psych pop)

Meet Jamie Adam, the bedroom-producer who unwittingly recorded his debut album in a series of late night, sleep-deprived sessions during his college years. The twenty-something electronic artist created his music using an iPad, some synthesizers and a guitar lying around his flat. He honed his craft alone, in the dead of night when the rest of the world was sleeping. Adam embraces his nights, when his mind sparks with ideas of what can be and should be, as well as those moments when one finds themselves alone in the early hours – after the afterparty. It’s more than appropriate then that the new single from his album is entitled ‘Nocturnal’; where he declares, “we are the creatures of the night”.

Madeline – “Ghost”

“The song was initially formed as I felt overwhelmed by loneliness. It’s about emptiness – being surrounded by people but not feeling understood, listened to, or seen. It’s about social anxiety. It’s about feeling unwanted.”

Forest Management “Passageways” out on 03.22.19

Passageways is John Daniels’ most personal work to date. An ode to his childhood home – a secluded apartment complex in Cleveland that his parents managed – “Passageways” refer to the various connecting hallways running between rooms as much as it refers to the way the passing of time overtakes our perception of spaces that seemed to be endless corridors into discovery and imagination. Passageways is full of submerged melodies, gentle pulls of surging tonal shifts that arc, shimmer and fade into the dark purple hue of the album’s shifting overtones. The album rides the line of decaying drones that recall the best of Basinksi or Belong’s October Language.

Sacred Paws ready new album Run Around the Sun for May 31

Beginning with a scream of guitar, “The Conversation” includes all the hallmarks of a classic Sacred Paws song—where intricate guitar work and complex drumming collide with pop smarts and the dual vocals of Rachel Aggs and Eilidh Rodgers. The track was written about a long-forgotten argument between friends, composed in the band’s traditional unplanned approach, each member’s thoughts and feelings slaloming through the other’s. “You’re all wrong, you’re walking away / Why would we even try to have this conversation?” the song asks before resolving to move on: “I’m running, I’m hiding out, resisting / I’m keeping this to myself….” The argument that inspired it is long forgotten but the feelings remain.
