Metric premieres fan-sourced “Love You Back” video

“‘Love You Back’ is about making a decision to stop being miserable,” notes frontwoman Emily Haines. “We get trapped in past incarnations of ourselves and decide that nothing can ever change. I’ve been held in place with wire and lace and waltzed around the drain. In the tension between a very dull standard of conventional morality and an intense desire to break out of it, our fixed ideas of ourselves and fear of any negative outside perception keep holding us back. What we desperately want is to ditch all that and be free.”

Colourmusic ‘Swimsuit’ Out Now

Swimsuit is Colourmusic’s fourth, and most personal, full-length studio album and was composed and produced by Ryan Hendrix and Nick Ley (Flaming Lips, Brothers Griiin). “In the way that a lot of people I know these days are preparing for the end of the world,” Hendrix states, “this album is a doomsday prep album in an emotional way. I know that some bad things are coming my way and I wanted to create a soundtrack I could listen to when those things do.” Before the release of Swimsuit, Colourmusic had been quietly giving their fans early access to the album since summer of 2018 through a unique invitation-only campaign. About this early access approach, Nick Ley said, “we’re having fun existing just outside the industry right now. I think bands feel pressure to do things a certain way when releasing their own records to be considered “professional” and a lot of those practices just insert more space between artist and audience.”

Taken from their sophomore album Malibu Nights, out now on Interscope Records, “Thick and Thin” has already racked up over 42 million streams since its release at the end of last year. The video sees a reflective frontman Paul Klein hitch a dangerous ride, cruising along the palm tree-strewn California coastline at dusk.
