Seven years since the critically-hailed Between the Devil And Two Black Hearts (their last studio release), Los Angeles-based 8MM returns to the forefront of the orchestral alternative scene with a stellar new EP HEART-SHAPED HELL which will be released on February 22, 2019. Featuring Grammy-nominated producer/mixer and multi-instrumentalist Sean Beavan (Nine Inch Nails, Thrice, No Doubt, Slayer) and multi-faceted wife/vocalist Juliette Beavan, 8MM has grown and evolved since their last release. “In the past few years, we’ve found some really cool and interesting new artists putting out very cool work that reminded us of the vibe of our first EP, Opener,” Sean explains. “It gave us the itch and inspiration to get back to our moody, cinematic roots. So, when one of our outside projects got pushed back, we found ourselves with a month free so we sat down and banged it out. It’s our favorite collection of 8MM songs so far.”
Award Winning Film Follows KORN & Guitarist Overcoming Cerebral Palsy
MIND OVER MATTER and its star Brandon Mendenhall, which chronicles the inspirational story of Mendenhall and will be released on all major digital platforms January 25th on Sumerian Films. Featured throughout the film are legendary KORN band members James “Munky” Shaffer, Brian “Head” Welch and Jonathan Davis.
Mendenhall was born with cerebral palsy, a neurological condition that affects movement, coordination and balance. More than one doctor told him he would never play an instrument, but Mendenhall had other plans. The film documents Mendenhall’s unbelievable journey to rehabilitate his then-paralyzed left hand in order to play guitar, while also overcoming bullies and stereotypes. Along the way he found friendship and mentors with members of the Grammy-award winning band KORN. Mendenhall eventually formed his own band THE MENDENHALL EXPERIMENT which opened the main stage at Monster Energy’s Aftershock Festival 2016. They were soon signed with a major record deal and released their debut album on Lucent/Universal.
