International recording artist Amaal releases “Not What I Thought” the first single off her forthcoming debut EP. The R&B influenced, bass thumping single is a gentle yet confident ballad about the end of a relationship. Hardly a new theme and yet, “Not What I Thought” unfolds as a salve for the question of how an intimate partner can become a stranger. “It’s about finally realizing the person you’re in love with is not who they’ve represented themselves to be. That love quickly conjugates to the past tense.” – Amaal.

wifisfuneral and Robb Banks Announce Joint Tape and Tour
Two of South Florida’s most wanted emcees, wifisfuneral and Robb Bank$ share a lot more than just geography–they both came up on SoundCloud with a predilection for pitch black, headphone-ready instrumentals. Delivering flex-heavy verses over state-of-the-art production, wifisfuneral and Robb Bank$ announce Conn3ct3d, their upcoming collaborative EP. Departing from the dark subject matter that defines their solo projects, the two emcees enjoy each others’ company on Conn3ct3d, competitively stacking syllables in a contest over who can stunt the hardest. Swapping bars and finishing one another’s punchlines, the chemistry between the two tourmates is electric, as Robb’s booming basso bounces nicely off wifi’s double-time slick talk. Featuring distorted, speaker-knocking production from Cris Dinero and others, Conn3ct3d arrives on January 11th, 2019 via EMPIRE / Alamo.

Clint Alphin readies new record ‘Straight to Marrow’
Dunn, North Carolina, native Clint Alphin is set to release his fourth album, Straight to Marrow, on March 29th. A collection of bluesy, folksy, and straightforward American roots music, Straight to Marrow finds Clint’s easy tenor vocals and down-home guitar picking entwined in his most eclectic album yet. Part of what makes Alphin’s new record ebb and flow with ease is producer Neilson Hubbard (The Apache Relay, Matthew Perryman Jones) and his careful song-by-song approach, allowing Clint’s skill set to shine as each new tune unfolds. Today, Glide Magazine premiered Straight to Marrow’s first single, “Out to California.” Glide praises the release and notes that “Alphin explores moments in life that move you to the bone, as he embraces and celebrates risk taking and dream chasing.” Glide also nods to Hubbard’s work, noting that “the production is carefully constructed to suit each song.”

Cali rock freaks GLITTER WIZARD unveil album details + new track premiere
Are they glam? Are they metal? Stoner rock? Psych? Prog? For over a decade, people have been trying to pin down GLITTER WIZARD but this band refuses to be pigeonholed. As they play a unique brand of freak rock and roll that Julian Cope once described as “unashamedly glamorous hard rock” and he wasn’t wrong. These San Francisco heshers have been wowing rock fans with heavy riffs and a high octane stage show that combines it all: psych, metal, punk, glam and prog into a sound that is both hard to categorize and easily recognizable as their own. Pulling influences from the entire heavy rock canon, G Wiz combines scorching guitar riffs and spaced out synths to create something familiar, yet entirely new and weird.
Exclusively premiering with Complex, Strick spoke about his work stating, “I wanted to create an experience that was just as creative and unique as my style of music and felt that giving the listener a visual trailer that embodied the conceptual theme of See You When I Land was important. I’m thankful my team and the directors believed in my vision and were able to highlight it on screen.”

With “Boca,” The Odds proves he’s got something up his sleeve in debut single
Today, The Odds shares “Boca,” the first single to be released from his upcoming self-titled debut album. The Odds, which is the solo project of vocalist and instrumentalist, Albert Aguilar, sets the tone for what you can expect from the album—a journey of self discovery. “Boca” is a bit ominous, written in A minor and something Albert says reminds him of Mozart’s Requiem, and one that dives deep into his own darkness. It is here that he explores the most important battle of them all. The one between him and his own worst enemy—himself.
