Jon Bryant Shares Video For “Cultivated” From Upcoming Album ‘Cult Classic’ ?
Of the video and song, Jon says, “This video was a labor of love and personally my most ambitious concept to date. It was a joy to work alongside director, cinematographer and friend Andrew Gerard. He brought so much to the video that I could never have imagined. I wrote this song so that listeners would look inside their own lives at the cults they are a part of – to take stock of the cost/benefit. I’m not saying all ‘cult’ traits are necessarily always harmful, but when people lose their autonomy or no longer think for themselves, tribal mentalities and unhealthy behaviors tend to follow, be it in abusive relationships, partisan politics, divisive churches or professional sports fans. I want to help people have the courage to get out of those unhealthy situations.”
MØ Debuts “Blur,” Forever Neverland Out Friday!
MØ says, “I wrote ‘Blur’ while exhausted and jet lagged from months of traveling back and forth between continents, touring in Europe and writing in Los Angeles. We started writing the song and it almost felt therapeutic. ‘Blur’ is about feeling lost, and on a personal level I would be lying if I didn’t mention that this song, for me, was about feeling creatively and artistically lost in the city of all great opportunities, Los Angeles.”
PORTUGAL. THE MAN RELEASES NEW MUSIC VIDEO FOR “TIDAL WAVE”
Grammy award winning rockers Portugal. The Man, who recently won awards for both Album of the Year & Artist of the Year at the Oregon Music Hall of Fame, have released the new music video for their latest single, “Tidal Wave,” from their Gold certified eighth studio album, WOODSTOCK. The video is an impressive claymation sensation created in collaboration with creative agency Wieden+Kennedy.
Of the inspiration for the track, the band’s Sohrab Habibion says, “Lyrically I wanted to combine elements of our modern jargon (“narrative control,” “startup culture”) with both corporate language we’re bombarded with (“surge-priced ride-share,” “wearable tech”) and genuine concerns (“private economy,” “occupied land”). We live in an era where news about Über’s social image issues gets the same airtime as Israeli forces unlawfully killing Palestinian civilians.”
