I, Us, & We Share “Prism” Track Via BlackBook | ‘Prism’ EP Out Later This Fall
I, Us, & We emerged from obscurity into the public’s consciousness in 2017 with a sound that was both self-assured and transcendent. The trio; consisting of brothers Jordan, Evan, and Aaron Doverspike, spent the better part of the last decade honing their craft in their Temecula, CA home studio. Temecula’s stark desert landscape served as the perfect backdrop to the music they developed; a haunting and sensual mixture of indie rock, electronica, and R&B that melds together gleaming synths, spacious drum programming and soulful three-part vocal harmonies.
Retro-pop artist Zyles releases soulful new single, “Secretary”
Bay Area based “professional pop” outfit Zyles has just dropped his second single, “Secretary,” a provocative yet thoughtful look at the difficulties of letting go through the lens of office romance. The track, which is the follow up single to Zyles’ bright Summer anthem “Sundresses,” is a stylized slow jam that treads the line between retro R&B and soul, while maintaining a distinct modern edge musically and lyrically.
“In ‘Secretary,’ the narrator is trying to avoid the temptation of the secretary, rather than embrace it,” says Zyles. “There is intended to be a healthy amount of sexual tension in my songs, without the cliche depictions of sex, and a certain acknowledgement that this type of indulgence is not always in our best interest.” With his forthcoming string of new singles, Zyles is looking to flip the pop script, and do so with finely crafted songs and a refreshingly dynamic take on what is means to chase love as a twenty-something professional.
