Ian Mellencamp Announces New Single / Farm Aid Performance This Weekend
Mellencamp explains, “With accessibility to the world available at everyone’s finger tips via WiFi/the internet, it’s easy to think that we all have a voice that will reach the masses. On the contrary, with so many voices in the mix, and our expectation that our voice can and will be heard, we can become lost in the shuffle and experience what I’m calling invisibility. Only heightened by our increasing dependency and reliance on social media and technology, our feeling of self-worth is semi-dependent upon it. Isn’t it ironic that with the world becoming increasingly accessible and reachable, that we can start to feel more invisible? It was written at an existential low point for me. A period of struggling with the reality of the day in and day out, the monotony of living. Negotiating between the love of the freedom that comes with anonymity/invisibility and its ability to make life seem meaningless and arbitrary.

Dev09 debuts dark alterna-pop cut, “Oh Shit”
With lyrics spiralling through an rnb-infused bass line that is tangled over a re-worked guitar riff, the song is about “disassociation,” and explores her own personal journey with addiction and struggles with mental health. She went on to explain to NYLON how the song speaks of “isolating yourself from everyone, so you don’t have to deal with the pain you’re causing them when you hurt yourself, because that shit gets to be unbearable. [It] just sort of takes you through blurry moments of my life, from the time I had seizures in front of my parents at home, to driving off oxys, to getting locked into hospital rooms and being forced into residential treatment.” The release follows the genre-bending and stripped-down, “Bored”, which was her first release in 3 years.
SYML Shares New Single “Clean Eyes”; On Tour Now
Seattle artist and producer SYML is excited to share his latest single, “Clean Eyes.” When asked about the track, Brian Fennell (SYML) said, “I wrote ‘Clean Eyes’ as an outlet to express my least favorite thing about myself, that I’m a cynic. I think that is one of the most ugly traits a person can have. Somehow, I found someone who loves me through my cynicism, and shows me the world through her beautiful and honest lens.” He added, “I’ve been writing and producing a lot of material this year as I work towards an album. This is really the first song we approached with more of a ‘band’ mentality. It was a fun challenge because of the contrast between the intimate lyrics and anthemic choruses.”
