Serious Klein releases hard-hitting, Rascal produced new single “Voodoo Money” (Majestic Casual)

Germany-based, Ghanian rapper Serious Klein releases new single “Voodoo Money”, from upcoming debut album You Should’ve Known (out Oct 19th via Majestic Casual).

Part two of a trilogy of tracks ending in “money”, “Voodoo Money” follows on from the more consciously themed “Coochie Money” to narrate the story of someone who’s moving in the wrong direction – revolving around the “things you would do for money without any remorse – being greedy, ignorant and obstinate: getting money by any means necessary”.

Genre-defying LA rockers Girl Friday release single

L.A. punks Girl Friday have released their genre-defying new single entitled “Decoration / Currency” which you can stream now via Bandcamp.

Girl Friday is a self-described “genre-confused rock band” made up of Vera Ellen, Libby Hsieh, Sierra Scott, and Virginia Pettis. Taking inspiration from a plethora of influences ranging from the SCUM Manifesto, socialist propaganda, pro-women rallies, The Breeders, witchcraft, mall goths, and surf rock of the 70’s, the foursome have effortlessly fused together a seemingly clashing collage of musical styles with intelligently poetic lyrics wrapped in a pro-active, political mentality.

shallow pools Rise Above Water In New Single “Sinking”

In contrast to the track’s title, Boston-based alt pop/rock trio shallow pools stay high above water with their new single “Sinking,” out TODAY. The follow up to their debut single “It’s A You Thing.”, which was released earlier this summer, “Sinking” focus on the daily struggles that come with general anxiety. Their sound continues to expand on influences of both pop rock and alternative, while maintaining meaningful (and painstakingly relatable) lyrics. shallow pools has kept busy as of lately – the trio has played a slew of shows with national touring acts, such as Smartpunk Records’ RIVALS, around the state of Massachusetts, premiering their upcoming Fall EP tracks to new audiences. “Sinking” kicks off with a pulsing guitar riff, demonstrating the band’s clear alternative inspirations, but quickly mellows out throughout the verses, eerily replicating the emotional rollercoaster experienced in anxiety. It’s clear that shallow pools knows what they’re advocating, but especially seeing as the band strives to promote inclusivity in their art, the trio are undeniably authentic in their lyricism and instrumentation. Recorded at Reclaim Studios, the trio hopes to continue promoting their brand of inclusion through their 5-track EP later this fall. About the release of “Sinking”, the band states:

“”Sinking” is about the struggles of dealing with anxiety and the challenges it brings on a daily basis. The song explores the fear of opening up to others and asking for help.”

Recruiting two Los Angeles rappers for a quick drive up The 5 to Oakland, 40 spars with Vince Staples and G Perico on the single, creating a fascinating contrast of styles: 40 uses his unlimited vocabulary and unique flow to create a nursery rhyme of sorts, while Perico aggressively reps for South Central and Vince mocks mumble rappers with his nimble flow.
