YO GOTTI JOINS YOGI FOR “BABY” REMIX

Born and bred in Brent Cross, North west London, Yogi existed in his own world. But having lived in Los Angeles for the past several years, Yogi’s upcoming debut album is centered on his personal connection between the two cities. He’s been coming back and forth for the past five or six years as an in-house producer at Interscope, the label founded by Jimmy Iovine – and through which he ended up meeting and signing a production deal with the legendary Dr. Dre, and an artist deal with Skrillex’s OWSLA to release his own music. These connections became the catalyst for Yogi’s journey across the Atlantic. And it’s these relationships Yogi fostered that’s put him in a position to bring the likes of DRAM and Kid Ink, together with UK acts such as Ray BLK, Lady Leshurr on his debut album for Epic Records/Ministry of Sound, successfully marrying the tone of two of the world’s most iconic cities into one unique, jet-setting sound.

The drums were the hardest part, particularly the first half. I knew what I wanted, yet it still took many weeks to figure out how to do it. I’m glad I persisted as I think it’s a pivotal element of how this song is identified.”

Shooter Jennings has released his new song, “Denim & Diamonds.” A song whose sound gives the listener the sense that it’s been a classic for decades, “Denim & Diamonds” is a dark and smoky acoustic guitar and bass-driven paean to the late 80s/early 90s line dancing culture that thrived in dive clubs across the country and the people in his life who lived to go out and simply dance the night away. It was a scene he judged harshly while growing up, yet now looks back on with fondness as he reflects upon the carefree days of youth, wondering where the people who partied in these clubs are today.

Rebekah Rolland Seed & Silo Now Streaming on Spotify

The new Americana album from Rebekah Rolland creates an ominous atmosphere within the prairie hills. Inspired by caves dug out of the earth by homesteaders, it lures listeners into a gritty and otherworldly reality of early life on the plains. Seed & Silo is out today on Sky Island Records.

Seed & Silo draws inspiration from several sources. It is a product of her residency with the National Parks Service, and comes at a significant time. With recent budget cuts, issues around immigration, and women’s rights becoming increasingly pressing, the album centers around the way in which identity is shaped by the relationship to a specific place and the people within it. Rolland uses a dense story-teller like cadence to set each scene of an album richly rooted in feeling. In part, as with the single, it was also inspired by Cather’s Prairie Trilogy. The seed and silo are images that symbolize the legacy of homesteaders who settled the Western plains. Rolland goes further to say, “Many of these original homesteads remain, and the sight of these silos as you’re driving through the Nebraskan prairie is really striking and otherworldly. It’s eerie because of how numerous, but like everything else, how small they are when set against the expansive landscape.”

People will be quick to notice that Porter’s commitment to the aesthetic is just as effortful as his previous live shows, and it’s safe to say that this will be the most unique show of 2018.

The Home Team Release Music Video For “Since We All Fell Apart”; Better Off Out Now!

When discussing the meaning behind the track and music video, vocalist Brian Butcher stated, “‘Since We All Fell Apart’ is so unlike the rest of our material not only in its sound but in its message. It’s a song that highlights something dark and disturbing that happens more often than we think: emotional abuse through over-exerting control over another person. In this case, over a significant other. If you know of someone who suffers from this domestic dynamic, don’t stay quiet.” ‘Since We All Fell Apart’ is available to stream or purchase on all digital platforms now. The Home Team new LP, Better Off, is available digitally everywhere and physically on the Revival Recordings shop page.
