Disasterpeace scores ‘Under the Silver Lake’

Under the Silver Lake is an upcoming neo-noir comedy drama directed by David Robert Mitchell, director of It Follows. A24 is releasing the film in Los Angeles and New York City on June 22nd, 2018 before expanding nationwide in July.

For scoring duties, David Robert Mitchell turned to previous collaborator Rich Vreeland aka Disasterpeace, who provided a memorable outsider’s perspective to the horror genre for It Follows. For their second collaboration, Under the Silver Lake pushes both director Mitchell and Disasterpeace into unexpected territory. Disasterpeace, best known for his synth-driven work, delivers a full orchestral score for the first time. The end result lends the film a distinct noir thriller vibe that emphasizes its dark, unraveling narrative.

CHRISTINE AND THE QUEENS RETURNS WITH NEW SINGLE “GIRLFRIEND” VIA BECAUSE MUSIC

Christine and the Queens today makes her eagerly anticipated comeback with new single “Girlfriend”, available to stream and download now via Because Music. “Girlfriend” is Christine and the Queens’ first new song since her already iconic debut album Chaleur Humaine and titled Christine and the Queens in North-America.

Besides her debut being a tremendous critical success selling 1.3 million units across the world, she toured North-America multiple times, played Coachella, Governors Ball, as well as performed “Tilted” on numerous late night shows such as The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, The Daily Show with Trevor Noah and Late Night with Seth Meyers. Christine and the Queens gained rave reviews across the board from New York Times, Pitchfork to Vogue and she graced the cover of Time Magazine’s « Next Generation Leaders » issue where she was proclaimed to be one of the most influential young creatives in the world.

If Christine and the Queens/Chaleur Humaine was an introduction to Christine and the Queens AKA Héloïse Letissier, then “Girlfriend” is a bold declaration of the next chapter in her story. She’s stepping away from her debut album towards a tougher, more minimalist, and more upbeat sound, which finds its most direct expression on “Girlfriend”. The track – written and produced by Letissier – pays tribute to her long-time love of the G-funk sound, and in order to get it exactly right, she tracked down one of its pioneers, Dâm-Funk, and asked him to sing and play on it.

Polish Club announces debut album, shares single

Like that ill-advised third espresso on a 2-minute, 37-second coffee break, the pair’s frantic chemistry infiltrates in “Beat Up”‘s double-time verse before a full scale attack on the nervous system in a paint-stripping chorus. “I thought, ‘What if I just sing as loud as I can and see if I can stay in key?’,” vocalist and guitarist Novak muses on the genesis of a blunderbuss vocal presence that’s made Australian jaws hang open in unison through escalating tours of sold-out club shows across the great southern land. All of that and more is what is on display here, to a stunning effect.

Having just capped an Australian tour with Royal Blood, and just ahead of another Australian run accompanied by a five-piece brass combo, Polish Club are hungry to bring their impossibly high-octane show to as many people as they can. Expect more information about Alright Already, tour dates and more in the coming weeks.
