Mapache Release “Follow Me Down” Video

Close your eyes and imagine The Everly Brothers wearing tie-dyed nudie suits. Okay, now open them. There’s Mapache. Young ones Clay Finch and Sam Blasucci—the Mapache boys—are barely in their twenties, but are already rising to the top of the new wave of West Coast Cosmic Americana.

Born and raised in Glendale, California, their breathtaking harmonies and heartfelt yet intoxicating sound, was honed by surfing the beaches and exploring the deserts and canyons of their native California. Clay spent time at Chico State, while Sam missioned in Saltillo, Mexico, living out what would become the songs that populate their self-titled debut album released in late 2017 on the Spiritual Pajamas label. Its charm lies within the simplicity of their voices and the songwriting that recalls a young Gene Clark, The Louvin Brothers, David Crosby, Stephen Stills and even Townes Van Zandt.

Lou Phelps Hosts a Talk Show in the Video for Kaytranada-Produced “Come Inside”

Skating over electro-rap instrumentals with a fluid flow, Montreal’s Lou Phelps embodies his city’s diverse creativity. Sharing a psychedelic, humorous, and unsettling clip for a candy-colored disco-funk single, Lou Phelps gets metaphysical with “Come Inside.” In the video, Phelps falls asleep while watching TV, dreaming that he hosts a late night talk show. Initially a pleasantly odd experience, the vibe grows sinister when the characters on TV start interacting with Lou, staring daggers, dancing, and eventually growing violent. Premiered by Billboard, the KAYTRANADA-produced “Come Inside” is a unique and immersive visual experience. With audio premiered in February by Complex, the song features a standout verse from fellow Canadian Jazz Cartier, who has a blast stringing together flashy punchlines over the club-ready sonics.

Harry Permezel Shares “Wax Man” Video Via Culture Collide

Wax Man, the sophomore album from Melbourne, Australia native Harry Permezel, is an intimate reflection of a twenty-something’s formative era of self discovery. The ten tracks flutter from introspective observance to guided narration on the forming and failing of relationships, uncertainties of the future, suburban isolation, and a hopeful foresight. The warm production of the record allows these themes to become illuminated with haunting harmonies, head-bobbing hooks, clockwork percussion, sporadic flecks of synthesizer, and crooning ruminations.
