SEN MORIMOTO ANNOUNCES DEBUT LP CANNONBALL!

Chicago multi-instrumentalist composer/rapper/artist Sen Morimoto has announced his debut LP, Cannonball!, due May 4th via Chicago tastemaker label Sooper Records (Nnamdi Ogbonnaya, Longface, Options). Born in Kyoto, Japan, he grew up in western Massachusetts where he studied saxophone under Charles Neville whilst honing a production skill set that would bring him to Chicago to work with the likes of Joseph Chilliams (Pivot Gang), KAINA, Qari, and Nnamdi Ogbonnaya and eventually record Cannonball!. Sen wore every hat in the making of the album; producing, playing, engineering and mixing everything you hear to create an ambitious debut that’s as winding and complicated as it is accessible and pop-leaning, a juxtaposition not easily achieved. You can listen to a track off the album for “People Watching” up top and check a previously released video for “Cannonball” below.

Croatian singer-songwriter Pedlar 76 shares new single “Try”

Following years of searching in vain for local collaborators, Ljuboja resolved to do everything himself and began to lay down demos. Encouraged by Sas?a’s initiative and music he was producing, longtime friend and Los Angeles producer David Jerkovich (Novi Split) flew to Croatia to record Pedlar 76’s debut single ”Try”. Ljuboja and Jekovich completed the production via Skype, adding drums from Peter Straub and Justin Pizzoferrato did the mixing. Ljuboja cites Sonic Youth and The Cure as musical heroes and the influance can be heard in his alt-rock sound, but the finished product is ultimately the self-taught Ljuboja’s own.

Legendary Producer JOHN FRYER Releases New Video “La diosa y el hombre”

While the term “legend” is often bestowed quite liberally these days, few would argue that producer / artist JOHN FRYER carries that title quite appropriately. With a musical fingerprint that shaped the sounds of labels 4AD, Mute, Rough Trade and Beggars Banquet and bands as seminal as Cocteau Twins, Nine Inch Nails, PRAYERS, Mary and The Ram, HIM, Yaz, and Depeche Mode, Fryer has been the sonic architect for four decades of alternative music. Currently masterminding the new artist collective BLACK NEEDLE NOISE (like the iconic supergroup of sorts, This Mortal Coil, which he was co-founder), Fryer is creating a whole new direction for alternative music to forge ahead.

The young songwriter/producer, who has impressed with hits such as “IDGAF” and “I Ain’t Lyin” is now taking his talents to the mic. While he may be willing to settle down in one sense, rest assured that when it comes to the music, he’s just getting fired up.
