Annabel Allum shares boisterous new single ‘RASCAL’ out via Killing Moon Records

Guildford-based Annabel Allum shares boisterous new single RASCAL, her second offering of the year following acclaimed January release Beat The Birds and critically successful 2017 EP All That For What. Loaded with pulsating hooks and the enigmatic singer-songwriter’s tenacious vocals, Allum oozes charisma and once more showcases her ability to marry folk-style storytelling with snarling fuzzy indie.

The Go! Team share new single

It follows their acclaimed new album, SEMICIRCLE, released in January on Memphis Industries. Band leader Ian Parton explains the influences behind the upbeat and mostly instrumental track, saying “’The Only Thing New Is U Finding Out About It’ is an expansion of an idea from a remix I did years ago. It builds around a looping Steve Reich-esque kalimba line, with a syncopated steel drum response jumping in the gaps, and by the end a full-on choir have joined in this weird math rock African/Asian hybrid thing. The title is inspired by a Mike Watt quote – and a sentiment I’m into: that it’s up to you to go out and track down the good shit that’s out there…” The Go! Team today also announced they’ll perform on TruTV’s The Chris Gethard Show on April 10th, 2018, the day after their North American tour closer show at NYC’s Le Poisson Rouge.

London’s Dead Man’s Knee assaults the prim pretence of modern life

A paradigm shift in popular culture put the heady rock and roll excesses of the late twentieth century (sex and drugs) into the hands of contemporary commercial hip hop. ‘Pleasure’ is Dead Man’s Knee’s no-holds barred hard rock debut single that lyrically sets out to explore the shame prevalent in rock and roll over its hedonistic past. There’s a freewheeling sense of experimental progression akin to Funkadelic, and a contemporary hard rock edge like QOTSA at their most Led Zeppelin, but frontman Del’s vocal approach recalls the rootsy body singing of Chuck Berry and Little Richard. It all combines to make a fearsome three minute head banger that’ll have you shaking out on to the streets, bopping to your nearest dive bar to break every new years resolution you thought you were serious about.

REPLICANT: Metal Injection Streams Negative Life Full-Length In Its Entirety

This Friday, discordant death metal trio REPLICANT will unleash the blistering fruits of their Negative Life full-length upon the masses! In advance of its release, Metal Injection is streaming the record in full issuing, “It’s easy to deliver dark sounds, but much harder to give weight and emotion to it in a way that connects with the listener, something Negative Life does in a way that sounds downright haunting and achingly miserable. The end result…occupies its own space within the pantheon of modern era technically inclined warped death metal. Particularly because, outside of Artificial Brain and a few others, most bands of this ilk have no interest in original death metal wave influences within their sound. In essence, the goal here seems to be an exercise in doing more with less, and it works in their favor every time from start to finish… Negative Life is an interesting experiment in blending old-school cavernous death metal attitude and style with modern dissonant skronky flavor.”
