Neofolk Legends Sol Invictus Unveil New Song “Set the Table”
More than 30 years after their inception, English neofolk kings Sol Invictus will release their long-awaited new album, Necropolis, on March 23 via Prophecy Productions (Alcest, DOOL). Described by the group’s dean Tony Wakeford as “a record based on and brought forth from London and the serpent Thames that snakes its way through its heart”, the LP is quite possibly the final release from a band revered as progenitors of a dark and desperate sound.
CLOSED SESSIONS WELCOMES AJANI JONES WITH NEW EP, COCOONS
Closed Sessions has announced the signing of emerging emcee Ajani Jones, joining Kweku Collins, Jamila Woods, WesbterX, Femdot and Boathouse at one of Chicago’s most prominent independent hip hop labels. Ajani entitled the EP Cocoons because it centers on his experiences finding his voice and growing as an artist and a person. Each track speaks to a different breakthrough and obstacle being overcome for the emcee, who grew up in extreme poverty while bouncing around Chicago’s South Side. Cocoons is a recollection of hardships, but also a testament that they can be overcome.
