VAVÁ shares surreal, colorful “The Other Side” video with Billboard

“The concept of the video for “The Other Side” came about over a bar chat with its director, Spencer Balliet. The song is about the metaphor of being haunted, how that manifests, and connecting to the “land of the dead” through connection with the living. The video is an interpretation of the song’s discussion about fear, feeling trapped, then facing the ‘other side’, which is portrayed through the simple progression of the day, mixed with gradual movement from nature to the more built and final urban landscape. Despite all our intent and concept, the final result seems like a simple suggestion that the ‘other side’ is not necessarily without, but within.”

The Nectars “I Want It”

The band described the track to New Noise Magazine saying, “I Want It” is 2 mins of scorching, garage rock emotion. As a band we always like to toy with power dynamics and thought a woman demanding sex would be jarring to chauvinist ideals. With that in mind we needed to write a song encapsulating the feeling of being stoned, late at night, post show, covered in sweat, eager to fulfill our own physical desires.”
