TRU-Signee Skooly Only Buys The Finest in the Romantic “White Balenciaga” Video

Crafting infectious singles for the trap and the club, Skooly is one of Atlanta’s foremost melody masters. Rocking a floral jacket and many gold chains, Skooly only buys the finest for his woman in the video for “White Balenciaga.” A bubbly, yet hard-hitting single produced by Two17, “White Balenciaga” finds Skooly in lothario mode, rhyming about his many women and their expensive clothes. In the video, Skooly romances a model, accompanying her to Neiman’s, the runway, and the bedroom. Premiered by VIBE, “White Balenciaga” is the latest video from Don’t You Ever Forget Me Vol. 1, the T.R.U.-signee’s adventurous and infectious new EP. The new clip follows last week’s “Dirty Dawg ‘Insane’,” a psychedelic visual for the EP’s aggressive introductory track.

Second Still announce their second EP and share “Opening” via Post-Punk

After their first full-length record was named “best post-punk debut LP of 2017” by Post-Punk.com, While the songs from this newest release retain the sheer power and intensity of the band’s previous two releases, Equals sees Second Still evolving their sound and progressing forward into sonically uncharted territory. The four main components of the band’s signature sound are still there –chorus and delay-heavy guitar, hypnotic bass grooves, heavyweight drum machine beats, and hauntingly beautiful vocal melodies– but they have added a couple analog synthesizers into the arsenal for Equals, mixing a whole new element into their already uniquely realized style of post-punk. Commanding synth bass, subtle ambient soundscapes, and forceful lead synth hooks now supplement and enhance the distinctive sound that Second Still had already crafted on their first two releases.

Brooklyn Vegan premiered Clint Michigan’s video for “Knickerbocker Street”

At first listen, Clint Michigan’s beautiful, sanguine Centuries (Out on Kiam Records April 27, 2018) sounds like a document of reckoning, a nine track mediation that takes stock of certain realities—both personal and universal—that feel particularly pervasive in the cultural ether right now. Given the steady, assured nature of tracks like “Knickerbocker Street” and “Steven Says,” one might never guess that the record is, in many ways, a snapshot of chaos—a record made by an artist who travelled through the looking glass of a crippling addiction and managed to somehow come out the other side.
