Tracy Bonham signs with ECR Music Group

Grammy™ nominee Tracy Bonham is celebrating yet another banner year. Her new album, Modern Burdens, made Rolling Stone’s Top 50 albums of 2017, which they describe as “a lovingly penned postcard to Bonham’s past self, and a fascinating look at where she’s at right now.”

Where she’s at––and the current wave of commercial and critical success she’s enjoying––is remarkable and rare for any artist. But for Tracy Bonham, it’s no surprise: she’s an artist who has never ceased growing and has never stopped challenging herself, her own talents, or her audience.

Bonham’s debut, The Burdens of Being Upright, achieved Gold Record status in 1996, spawning the chart-topping hit “Mother Mother.” A pair of Grammy™ nominations followed, along with an MTV Video Award nomination for the single, which has remained a powerful anthem for the disenfranchised and isolated.

Nomis “Heart Headed (feat. Sintax the Terrific)”

“I’ve got one lyric pointed at your head for start, the other one is pointed at your heart”. The illustrious words of the late Hip-Hop icon, Guru birthed the concept behind, “Heart Headed”. How do we react to today’s social climate, political issues, or even our day to day struggles? Do we respond with a honest analysis of the situation, or do we lead with heartfelt compassion? Nomis reminds us that the answer is, both. Our heads administer the hard truths we seek in solving what ails us, while our hearts provide the empathy needed to address the aches and pains of a fallen world. “Heart Headed” begins with a somber tone reflecting those pains, but ends with an idealistic pronouncement of the perfect marriage of Heart & Mind.

Waiting For Smith ‘Monkeys In My Head’

Speaking about the track, Harry said:

“At a very young age I was introduced to the idea that your emotions are separate from yourself. They seemed to arrive like a storm and leave as quickly as they came. We all have a voice in our head if you think about it. It can feel like our own 24-hour radio station of anger, anxiety and fear. All seemingly trying to prevent us, by any means necessary, from fulfilling our potential.

The trick I was taught, when negative emotions swept over me (as they do all of us), was to imagine the voice as an actual monkey that lives in my head.

The song is about not letting my Monkey get a grip on me, with its endless instructions, or yelling at it to leave me alone (as I once did). Instead I like to tuck it up in its cosy bed with some cartoons and a manuka honey sandwich… the little bastard.”

Skope Mag, Fanshore & Tropic stiring the UK hip hop scene with their latest collaboration on ‘Reaper’

Fanshore and Tropic’s latest track ‘Reaper’ is an intensely evocative sonic foray into their vital new sound. The easy listening style loop gives it a nostalgic romance that recalls the escapism of instrumental hip hop pioneer Monster Rally. Centred around a girl who finds herself consumed by London’s distractions, Tropic’s vocal veers between subtle and measured bars and memorable melodic hooks. ‘Reaper’ was written and finished in two days after a break over the holiday period. Together the duo consolidated their sound, refining their approach to craft a worthy follow-up to their ‘Sunlight’. It’s world’s away from the braggadocio of contemporary grime and trap. It’s also far removed from the sad boy breakup songs that dominate the chart, and in its spontaneity and authenticity it finds something exciting, and more pivotally, it’s a sound that could soon prove very influential indeed.
