Hologram USA Theater Featured on CBS News
The Hologram USA Theater was featured on CBS News’ Sunday Morning with Jane Pauley, with tech correspondent David Pogue watching the theater’s hit Billie Holiday hologram show, petting virtual tigers and elephants, and even turning himself into a hologram for an interview with Hologram USA Founder and CEO Alki David.
The Hologram USA Theater–the first dedicated full-time hologram theater in the world–opened on Hollywood Boulevard late last year, just one block from the Egyptian Theater and other major attractions. The opening show is Billie Holiday, singing all the songs you expect from “Lady Sings the Blues” to the haunting protest song “Strange Fruit.” The presence of the holographic Holiday has been praised by her estate, the Wall Street Journal, and audiences alike. The theater has had to expand the amount of daily showings twice as demand swells. Alki David and Hologram USA own the patents to the only life-like, high definition hologram presentation technology–the one that was used to project the famous Tupac Shakur hologram at Coachella.

TALMA return with ‘In Circles’ and announce their new EP
With its urgent ticking drums and syncopated bass lines, ‘In Circles’ is a canny sleight of hand from London alt-rock band TALMA. Frontman Henry Adams’ vocal line pairs with guitarist James Creed’s lyrics and arrangement to create a tune which effervesces with heady romance and nostalgia. As James explains: “In Circles is about the sense of apathy we can experience when returning to a routine lifestyle after time away from it all – the everyday, the mundane. Where the loss of rhythm helps us to see what’s before us with renewed perspective, it can ultimately lead us to question it too. We all crave a sense of purpose, but affecting a change towards that offers the unknown. We then have a choice; to resign ourselves to the security of these sleepless cycles or to take a chance, step away from paths well known and chase a new sense of meaning.”

Muzik Present The New Album From Swedish Savant Zoo Brazil. ‘Point Of View’
A point of view indeed. One musician’s of course, but that of an individual who’s proved – over many a year – to be as scene-enduring as he’s been artistically inspirational. Whilst Zoo Brazil may not make longplayers all that often, when he delivers, they typically become classics in their own right or simply works of electronic art.
The auteurish nature of John Andersson has given those releases the cachet, not simply of influence and cool, but evermore of rarity. Its title a casual allusion to John’s sonic bearing, ‘Point Of View’ is his first album statement since 2012’s ‘Any Moment Now’. Specifically that bearing encompasses the strata of classic, deep and tech house, with its tracks existing without exception in the hinterlands between.
Born Ruffians “Miss You” video premieres at The 405
Discussing the “Miss You” video, Lalonde notes that “we had a lot of fun working on the third installment in our trilogy of videos that we shot with Peter Dreimanis and Leah Fay Goldstein. We spent the day in pretty realistic old man prosthetics and we couldn’t help but be in character the whole time. We went straight method and embodied the role of ‘old weirdos.’ The prosthetic skin felt very real to the touch, it was a glimpse into our potential future.”

After the success of their Christmas debut, a cover of Slade’s “Merry Xmas Everybody” (nearly 220,000 organic views, if you please), Wartoad launch their second assault on an unsuspecting planet, a truly magnificent mash-up of The Donald and their unhinged, yet truly sinuous punk rock musical stylings. To celebrate their return, Wartoad have once again found themselves banned by supposed forces for good! Having been disowned by the charity their Christmas single raised money for, they have now had I Alone Can Fix It thrown off their digital download provider before it’s even been released! Don’t talk to Wartoad about punk – they’re everything your mother warned you about.

Shannon & The Clams Debut New Music Video For “Backstreets” via Consequence Of Sound
This morning, Shannon & The Clams debut their new music video for “Backstreets,” the third single from their forthcoming album Onion (February 16th, Easy Eye Sound), via Consequence of Sound who say, “the track itself is filled with dusty glam, a spaghetti western written as much for Oakland’s darker alleys as the neon lights of downtown Nashville.” The band also provided a behind-the-scenes look at the making and influences behind their latest single in an interview with COS, and added: “Backstreets” has had a tumultuous existence. It was one of the last things we wrote for the record. It had a completely different hook at first and nobody liked it except our keyboard player Will and we tabled it, but Will saw promise there and really wanted it to make the album. At the final rehearsals before leaving for Nashville, he suggested we just keep the verses and mash the song together with this other glammy hook I had written (the half-time “takin’ the backstreets…” part) that needed verses to go with it and we all loved the weird combo.
Shannon and the Clams share the Origins and video for their new song “Backstreets”: Watch
