MOHA Releases New Single “COLD FEET”
To close out 2017, Senegalese-American artist, Moha, debuted the first piece of upcoming artist album FIT. Having already hit over 100,000 plays on Spotify alone since it’s October 2017 the single, “A-Side,” established the feel of the album that is the culmination of Moha’s multi-instrumentation back ground combining organic instruments, production, and the singer’s distinctive vocal chops. The other striking element of the single “A-Side,” is that it expresses a piece of the album’s nomadic ethos as Mo’s inspiration for the LP came from his time spent across three continents- North America, Africa, and Europe- which he channels by fusing sonic elements of each respective place.
The rock/alternative group His Dream of Lions, formulated their name after Ernest Hemingway’s novel “The Old Man and The Sea,” because of the ambitious spirit and moral intent of the main character’s reoccurring dreams. With that being said, the four young rockers love the thrill of chasing their dreams. Having known one another through the local Fairfax, Virginia music scene, guitarist Nick Jones, and singer Seth Coggeshall came together during the spring of 2012 to form the band. After a period of relentless gigging and writing, the band’s lineup was finalized with the addition of bassist Justin Mason and keyboardist Colby Witko in 2013 with the release of their EP’s Part One and Part Two. Following the Part One/Two record cycle, His Dream Of Lions moved forward in the summer of 2015 to record and release their self-titled EP. Leading up to the record’s release the band released a music video for “Danger Close” which debuted on Fuse.
Sonic Night Music Artist PERFECT DEFECT Debuts New Music Video
Hard rock band PERFECT DEFECT has released a new music video for “Love Song”. The self-titled debut was released on October 27th, 2017 via Sonic Night Music Club.
New Southern Hard Rock band PERFECT DEFECT’s debut reflects a deep trip through a vinyl album collection of both laidback and down and dirty tracks. The band combines unequal parts hard rock, blues, and country to create something new yet familiar.
The album’s loose grooves were achieved by recording the rhythm tracks (drums, bass, guitar) live in single takes with no overdubs. Then, the guitar solos and vocals were added to complete the feel of being right there. PERFECT DEFECT deftly move from rockers like “Rollin’ With G” and “Bad Girls” to the bluesy “Ultra Blue” and Southern-infused tracks like “Treat Your Man” and “Used To Believe” on a journey through deep album tracks.

WEDGE is a 60s-sounding, psychedelic and heavy rockin’ Berlin trio founded by guitarist/singer Kiryk Drewinski (ex-Liquid Visions/The Magnificent Brotherhood), drummer Holger “The Holg” Grosser and bassist/organist Dave Götz, and named themselves after the first stone tool of human history. Their sound is accordingly archaic, extremely effective, made from “solid rock” and, when used correctly, it causes fire… especially on stage!
Following the buzz of WEDGE’s debut, the group now unveils their eagerly awaited follow-up “Killing Tongue”… and it truly kills! Although it remains deeply rooted in the rock’n’roll of the late 60s & early 70s, this new album clearly is a strong progression from its precursor, presenting a multicolored spectrum of sounds and more diverse songwriting. Power trio-untypical arrangements and instruments like electric sitar, clavinet and harpsichord are accompanying some of the band’s new psychedelia-soaked tunes. Of course, you can also expect plenty of good ol’ fuzz guitar and Hammond organ-driven material as well!

25-year-old Boston bred rapper Cousin Stizz is cementing himself as one of the top up-and-comers in hip-hop. Born and raised in a rough part of Boston’s Dorchester neighborhood, Stizz was forced to mature quickly. At the age of 13, Stizz was faced with a harsh reality when his close friend was killed by a gunshot wound, causing Stizz to misbehave. His mother then had to give him an ultimatum; he could either attend military school or high school in the suburbs to stay out of trouble. Stizz chose the latter, which served as both a huge culture shock and turning point in his life. If you know the Minnesota band Cloud Cult, either from their appearances on Soundcheck or from their numerous recordings and tours, you know that singer/instrumentalist Craig Minowa and his crew are as visually attuned a group of musicians as you’re likely to find. They’ve made a series of short films, and their tours for many years included not only the players but two artists as well, who would do live paintings in response to that night’s set, so that each show resulted in two finished canvases. Their last project, The Seeker, was both a cycle of connected songs and a mostly silent (except for those songs) film. Cloud Cult’s emotive, orchestral brand of indie rock is perfectly suited to the movies, and today we premiere a track from Minowa’s score to the film The Great Alone, a documentary about the unlikely comeback story of Iditarod champion Lance Mackey. Set as it is in the Arctic, the soundtrack has stretches that evoke the vast expanse of the frozen North; but this piece, called “Don’t Tell Me I Can’t,” has a pulsating, determined rhythm that reflects Mackey’s determination to overcome the odds.

Electroman’s “Mood Swings”
“The album ‘Mood Swings’ started coming together when I began living on my own in my apartment in Dallas, TX while going to school at SMU. It was definitely a transitional time and I think you can probably hear some of that in the album. The song “Mood Swings” is the core of the album, as it is basically a reflection of my own mood swings I repeatedly experienced while adjusting to living on my own.”

The Up Here Place, the debut album from Montreal’s noise-pop quartet Look Vibrant, is a wonderpot of musical inventiveness and immediacy, boiling over with energy and steaming into bliss. After releasing two singles of pure noise music (Plateau and Sweater in the Lake), and an EP of polished indie pop (Only Qualms), on their debut album the band has perfectly combined these two elements into a product that is equally refined and unhinged. The songs teeter on the brink, threatening to fall apart at your feet, while somehow remaining intact by a logic that is uniquely Look Vibrant. Thematically, the album is an exploration of naive ambition, the constant need to reach ever growing heights, and the inevitable sharp drop that comes in its wake.
This week Venezuela-born songbird Dhanya premiered her debut single via Popdose, who called the track “incredible…a distinct variation on world pop that tilts a bit Eastern.”
If you dig exploratory rides through innovative soundscapes, a la Bjork and Ibeye, Dhanya makes for an excellent tour guide.
In a city famed for its disparate and varied musical excellence, the Detroit-based alignment of feted electronic artist and producer Shigeto aka Zach Saginaw and rapidly rising Bruiser Brigade member ZelooperZ was a natural thing. Introduced by mutual friends in the city, an instant bond was formed, and ZGTO was born. Over a two-year period, ZelooperZ and Shigeto would collaborate and experiment, honing their sound without any preconceived notions of its final form or an eventual release. Eventually and inevitably though, the full length record A Piece Of the Geto transpired, released last summer on Ghostly International and Third Man Records.

Saintseneca Release New Song “The Wandering Star”
Ohio’s Saintseneca revealed new song “The Wandering Star” for the holidays. “The luminous, fingerpicked song is warm and reminiscent of Sufjan Stevens,” said Pitchfork. “But Saintseneca finds a way to make a holiday trope much weirder and more mystical.” Stereogum agrees, saying that “The Wandering Star” begins “like a Carrie & Lowell-era Sufjan song before introducing a tinny beat and eventually exploding out into psychedelia.”
Marcel Alexander – “Got Nothing”
Marcel Alexander delivers his first release of 2018, “Got Nothing.” The record serves as the first single from Marcel Alexander’s new project, “IV Songs In Winter” scheduled to release this year. “Got Nothing” is a really catchy record with a dark and smooth beat by production duo, Slow Kings. Marcel describes the record, “I chose this song to be the single because it has a different sound and flow from what everyone else is on right now. It’s catchy and relatable. There are people who say they on the grind but they actually aren’t doing anything, and then there are people who have nothing that are trying to get something in life. I’ve seen it and live it everyday.”
