Sometimes, though, he just likes to let loose. Cleverly boasting about his rhyming and earning prowess, Raj takes a break from introspection to give himself a little love on “Forever Lit,” his latest single. Produced by Mikos Da Gawd and JULiA LEWiS, “Forever Lit” is a gurgling lava lamp of an instrumental, complete with G-Funk synth, rippling keys, and clacking woodblocks, a perfect canvas for Raj to rhyme about realizing his potential. Featuring an appearance from G-Eazy, the XXL-premiered “Forever Lit” is the latest single from Father Figure 2: Flourish, Raj’s upcoming album. Featuring appearances from G-Eazy, Russ, and Iman Europe and contributions from some of the Bay Area’s most innovative producers, including Mikos Da Gawd, JULiA LEWiS, Ian McKee, Drew Banga, Kyle Betty, and more, Father Figure 2: Flourish arrives on November 17th via EMPIRE.

Delano New Single

This new album was recorded at home between split shifts — Hempstead is a traffic reporter with CBC Ottawa. Many songs draw from his experiences as a journalist for more than two decades — stories he’s covered, murders, runaway wallabies, a man who smuggled gold out of the Mint in his bum, etc…. ‘Delano’ gets its name from Roosevelt, who not only Hempstead’s favourite president… they had some good ones, but isn’t that just the best middle name ever? The new album is out and was produced by Jordon Zadorozny of Blinker The Star. It’s an album brimming with atmosphere. Colours of indie-rock, country, fuzz-out space jams, funk grooves, and classic songwriting sit side by side. Not only does ‘Delano’ genre hop, it does so effortlessly. Never feeling forced, but always coming from the same place, from the same mind. Time to get lost in ‘Delano’!

Josienne and Samantha met on the London acoustic music scene several years ago and immediately shared a love of singing and writing. The Retroaction – Premiere: These Things For You

The lyrics for the song were written about the idea of loving a stranger, the brief moment of imaging life with them. The inspiration came when Keith had a large crush on a neighbour, the opportunity to speak with her never came up, but there was an energy , looks, and an obvious attraction. Once on a stormy night he witnessed her running from her car in their shared parking lot to her apartment below. “Tonight I seen you running, running in the rain. Thats how I know theirs something, I hope to see you again. But ill just keep on waitin’, waiting for you. My heart is slowing breaking, I guess i’m drinking for two.”
