Set to a sombre piano melody overlain by pulsating beats and memorable hook, ‘The Best You Had’ candidly explores the insecurity felt when an ex finds somebody new. Katie Herzig Releases Single

Katie Herzig has unveiled “Strangers,” the new single from her upcoming album, Moment of Bliss, expected early 2018. “Strangers” is streaming early at SoundCloud, and will be available at all digital outlets beginning Friday, September 8.

“‘Strangers’ is one of the first songs I wrote for the new album. Over time I fell in love with the simplicity and chillness of this song and wanted it to be the first on my record. Lyrically it digs into that vague feeling of discontentment that can chase us around in life, even when we have every reason to be content. I think when I wrote this song I was finding my way through that heaviness, but what I loved most about the song is that it felt like it knew how to get to me the other side of it. It gave me comfort over and over again as I worked on it and listen to it now.”

NYC’s The Fluids share absurdly great first single “Creatures”

The Fluids are here to take a sonic poleax to the clean cut rock vibe that dominates Brooklyn. The project was born from the premortal sludge that is post-collegiate malaise, unrequited lust, and endless consumption of reality TV. Trapped between corporate angst and young stoner life (shout-out Young Thug), the band honed their sound over the past few years, which is inspired by (and perhaps a more raucous version of) Talking Heads’ unhinged art punk jukebox and Berlin-era David Bowie. Their shambolic skills were honed in a local practice space where they crafted songs around lead singer Mike Tony’s wild vocal inabilities, a speak-sing punch that rattles across shards of shattered eardrums.

James Parkin ‘My Cure’

This is my story: “In January 2016 I promised myself I would write one song per month and make my first original album. 2 weeks later I was diagnosed with a particularly aggressive Cancer. When the surgeons removed the tumour, they also severed my facial nerves on the right side of my face leaving me paralysed on that side of my face. Luckily, this didn’t overly affect my ability to sing but it was just the start of my road to something resembling recovery. A road that lead me through 6 surgeries, Intensive care, leeches(!), Radiotherapy, song-writing retreats and a lot of soul searching and song writing.

Instead of Cancer/Facial Palsy ending my dreams, I feel like I’m just getting started. It certainly made for a kick-ass album as I did write (more than) 1 song per month to chronicle my 2016 and released my album (‘My Cure’) a few days ago. I’ve had 30,000+ followers in the first few days of release.”
