The Boxing bring light to their brooding psych on new single ‘Tame’

Leeds psych trio The Boxing release ‘Tame’, the follow up to acclaimed single ‘One By One’.

Traditionally conjurers of dark tones and brooding soundscapes The Boxing embrace the kaleidoscopic
potential of their psychedelic flourishes with latest release ‘Tame’. As lead-singer and guitarist Harrison
Warke elaborates: ‘Most of our songs are written in a darkroom without windows, but a hint of light managed to creep into this one. There’s a bit of sweet among the usual sour.’

Astari Nite shares Dreams of Majesty EP

The EP opens with “Lovesick,” a very energetic track that features old school guitars, a sharp bass, fast drums, and modern synths. “The Girl Who Tried,” that was the second single of the release, is an instant flashback in time to the late 80’s, early 90’s dark and goth clubs of London and New York. A mysterious synth sets the atmosphere for the third track, “Divination,” a new-wave balad with deep vocals and post-punk guitars. And last but not least is “The Witching Hour,” a song reminiscent of The Cure’s Disintegration years but with a modern twist.

Strawberry Runners’ debut EP

Strawberry Runners share details of In The Garden, In The Night! Their debut EP is out October 20th on Salinas Records and, yesterday, The FADER premiered the lead single calling it “a sweet song about ever-present grief.”

Strawberry Runners is the project of songwriter, Emi Night. Emi took up the guitar when she was 7 and teacher, Judy Collins, (not the one you’re thinking of) taught her to strum along to Bob Dylan and church hymns in Madison, Indiana. Music took Emi from teenage years on the midwestern DIY circuit to Bloomington, IN where she formed the bands Princess City and Summer Salt; out to Denver, CO, becoming a member of the orchestral pop-punk band, Mega Gem, and where Strawberry Runners came to life in 2013; and most recently, back across to the Northeast, and Brooklyn, NY.

The Town Hall Premieres “Backlash” on VEVO.com

Though America Needs The Town Hall isn’t a political album, that it was written in this time of political divide and social upheaval by a writer as introspective and sensitive as Larney, it’s little wonder that the state of the media and politics would be so reflected by his songs. Backlash was the writer’s reaction to the awful and unfortunate outcome of the Dallas protests last summer: “Everyone has lost it, the crowd loses sight. There’s five dead in Dallas tonight.”

The track, its title a thought provoking play on words, is the latest installment in a series of songs to preempt the album, following the well-received “Immigrant Boogie” and “Freakshow”.

Dark and foreboding, “Dopamine If I Do” features Ghostpoet (née Obaro Ejimiwe) contemplating and contrasting the idealistic vision of our hyper-connected world with the epidemic of isolation it is responsible for.

Morrow, the group has reformed for phase two of their mission. Recorded in their hometown of Nottingham in Spring 2017 A.D. with producer Johnny A. Carter, 9-13 is nine songs and forty-eight minutes of total nihilism. Now older, more cynical, and more isolationist, IRON MONKEY are back to usurp the scene, then crush its skull. Without question, their most focused, aggressive, and direct material to date, 9-13 is an all-out assault of violent hatred and nightmarish negativity. Recommended listening for fans of pain, suffering, and misanthropy.

Turnover’s previous full-length, 2015’s Peripheral Vision, won acclaim for showcasing a dreamier side of the band’s melodically-charged sound; Billboard noted that “the quartet has morphed into a moody, atmospheric indie rock band, without losing its knack for hooks.” As easy as it might have been to replicate that success for its third album, the band resisted the urge to play it safe.
