New Rose Premiere Single “Going North” via the 405

True country music is rare in modern independent music. Crossover country is much more common; there’s psychobilly and cow-punk, of course, and those pseudo-bluegrass and twangy rock bands that stand with the tips of their mustaches in the mainstream—and that doesn’t even include so-called alt-country. Less common is real country—the solitary sort, heartbroken, kicking around in dirty boots.

Hinson, Speech Debelle, and Bonobo vocalist Bajka; which gives you some indication of Kormac’s pliability. And, for the spoken word mash up ‘Another Screen’, Kormac recruited legendary Scottish novelist Irvine Welsh, the author of Trainspotting, Filth, The Acid House and Porno.

Tigerilla explains, “MERRYGO is the next evolution for Tigerilla. Using a similar sonic structure to my last single, this track is made to bang in a club or get wonky to whenever you hear it. Think NERD meets Azealia Banks. Most of the beat was made using cool retro outboard gear, which allowed me to make this track unique with the choice of sounds you hear.

Here’s what Andy had to say about his latest single from his new LP, Plenum Castle, “With ‘Impossible Girl’ I experimented with a drum machine and various keyboards and ended up creating what was, in my mind, a New Edition-esque sound. Livingston and Moore’s combined honeyed vocals flow over a fresh spin on classic blues chords and a country-like, percussive shuffle. The sound exudes an effortless symbiosis, which stems from the band members’ close relationship and interactive songwriting process. “Whether it’s lyrics or melody, we both tend to end up finishing each other’s songs and combine our personalities,” says Moore. “Never Slow Down” came about in just this way; on a plane ride back from a wedding, Moore wrote lyrics on a napkin and mused about slowing down, only to come home and find out that Livingston had written a song “amazingly opposite” to her own, about the anxiety and excitement in wanting to keep moving. She recalls Livingston showing her the lyrics, “What can I say / What can I do,” to which she immediately responded, “Keep up the pace / Catch up with you.”
