When Jeremy Pinnell released OH/KY in the summer of 2015 to stunned acclaim, it felt like an entire career compressed into one knock-out album. This unassuming northern Kentucky singer-songwriter sauntered and ripped through ten instant country classics that tracked as so confident and comfortable that it could have been mistaken for a seasoned musician’s creative peak. The songs themselves, reverent of Americana’s most enduring traditions, presented the man’s scope – his misadventures, loves, failures, and contradictions. Hailed as a “mind-blowingly good” (Greg Vandy, KEXP) “tutorial on classic country music” (Popmatters), Pinnell’s debut immediately differentiated as authentic and unflinching.

As a keyholder to the City of Las Vegas and an honorary resident of The Strip, thanks in part to his residency at Hakkasan Nightclub and his ongoing partnership with MGM, tapping Las Vegas as the next location to house a Tiësto pop-up shop was a natural choice for the dance music legend. Las Vegas has become synonymous with dance music and the culture that surrounds it, attracting fans of the genre from around the world with its energy and proclivity for fun above all else. Prodigy then uses his verse to slam opportunists looking for a hand at stardom. “I don’t condone bulls–t bars/ What the f–k is you talking about/ You just wanna be around stars,” he raps.
The song premiered on All Things Go who said it, “is a rapid buildup of post-punk instrumentation with clean, sharp vocals that pierce the sky.”
Caretaker’s Erin Pellnat (lead vox) also shared, “‘Swallow’ is a song about being trapped in a relationship (or any situation, really) where someone is successful in convincing you that you are constantly wrong. This gets to the point where you believe everything they say, gladly taking punishment and abuse from them and wrongfully accepting that you deserve it. You know that you would feel completely contented and sane if you just cut ties so that their influence can disappear and you can set yourself free.”

For this album, the band dug deep to try to express the emotional struggle of the rock and roll life. They explain: “The constant emotional expenditure that an artist must do in order to always be creating and the ups and downs of a career in music tends to lead to substance abuse and suicides. Unfortunately, the world has lost way too many music legends this way. Overall, this album is definitely darker and heavier than most of the past Hinder albums. However, for our old school fans, it also has a few songs that have that signature ‘Hinder’ sound.”
NJ-rockers Modern Crowds share “I Don’t Mind”
The song premiered on New Noise Magazine where the band detailed, “We started writing ‘I Don’t Mind’ back in June of last year. It was the first song off of the new record that we came up with and demoed. It’s also the first song that we started with when we began tracking our self-titled LP with Paul Ritchie in September 2016. The song is significant in that while it’s a straight forward rock song, it’s also the first time we began incorporating new instruments such as synthesizers, sitar, and the Nashville style of guitar tuning.

Now, as the band gets ready to release its fourth full-length LP, The Echo Of Pleasure, that vulnerability has shifted away from its roots in the complexity of youth. Instead, Pains’ idealism is grounded in real adult love, expressed in its most ordinary and fantastic way on the band’s latest single, “When I Dance With You.” – NPR
