Head North Share Debut LP via Substream Magazine

Today, Buffalo, NY-based, cosmic rock band Head North share their debut LP, The Last Living Man Alive Ever In The History Of The World, via Substream Magazine in advance of the official release tomorrow, June 2nd. The album was produced and mixed by Brett Romnes (I Am the Avalanche) and mastered by Jesse Cannon (Animal Collective, Man Overboard) at Barbershop Studios in Lake Hopatcong, NJ. Ben Cook is, among many other things, the very industrious Young Guv. From acting to writing/producing to playing guitar and screaming in hardcore bands, Guv has done it all and is well on his way to seeing it all as well. After nearly 10 years of releasing singles, flexis and tapes under the Young Guv moniker, 2015 saw the release of the brilliant “Ripe 4 Luv” mini-album. A tour de force of power-pop invention and jangle/fuzz guitar heroics, “Ripe 4 Luv” opened a lot of ears and turned a lot of heads, and picked up a nomination for Canada’s Polaris music prize along the way.

Meklit Premieres New Song “Supernova” Via Gizmodo

Ethiopian-American artist Meklit has shared her new song “Supernova”. The track is currently streaming via Gizmodo, who spoke with Meklit about the concept behind the song and it’s use of interstellar sound data collected by NASA’s Kepler space observatory. “Not only does the song rock, but its message and use of data turned to sound, or sonification, make it an especially cool tune for a science fan,” writes Ryan Mandelbaum for Gizmodo. “The cosmos are a part of you,” Meklit tells Gizmodo, “and to understand that can make you walk taller in the world.”
