Steelism Share New Song “Roulette” ft. Ruby Amanfu

On June 23, Steelism will follow up their critically-acclaimed debut album 615 To Fame with ism, a ten-song collection that finds the band drawing inspiration from mid-century modern design, early Brian Eno productions and 70s film scores. The album will be released on their own imprint Intoxicating Sounds, distributed by Thirty Tigers. Shaman’s Harvest To Release Red Hands Black Deeds Globally

Shaman’s Harvest and Mascot Records have announced the global release of Red Hands Black Deeds on July 28. Produced by Keith Armstrong, the new album premeditatively took on a more organic approach, utilizing vintage gear. Singer Nathan Hunt offers, “We used analog effects pedals and vintage amps. It was kind of like trying to find the melting point between Midwest and L.A. It still has the Shaman’s Harvest Midwest vibe to it, but it definitely has organic L.A. written all over it.” Guitarist Josh Hamler adds, “Goat toes are the new cowbells. We’d tell Keith we wanted a certain sound, and he’d pull stuff out that we never thought of, like the goat toes we used on “Blood Trophies” and “A Longer View” or sandpaper on ‘Scavengers’.” The band – singer Nathan Hunt, bassist Matt Fisher, rhythm guitarist Josh Hamler, lead guitarist Derrick Shipp, and drummer Adam Zemanek – simply didn’t want to use anything digital, and when a certain effect was needed they approached the process creatively, coming up with solutions to reach a realized vision. As Hamler shares, “We had been so stuck in our way of writing and recording, but Keith had a different, more interesting approach to coming up with that sound. He really helped us find a fresh new creative path.”

Warhaus Share New Video For “Love Is A Stranger”

Warhaus – the solo project of Balthazar’s Maarten Devoldere – announce a brand new track Love’s A Stranger out now on Play It Again Sam.

For the video Warhaus collaborated with Belgium film director and writer Wouter Bouvijn, who accompanied the band on a week long tour of France to gain background and B-roll footage. To the bands surprise the black and white video was cut from this on the road and live footage. Today, Brooklyn-based punk rockers Freya Wilcox & The Howl unveiled their wild, NSFW video for single, “Skin.”

In a feature with Curve Magazine, Wilcox detailed, “It’s a graphic ode to the dynamic thrill and powerlessness of sex and love addiction (or as most people will find more digestible, ‘falling in love’), the filming of which included hours of real pain and getting stabbed in the ass with a switchblade (accidentally), while hanging half naked from a basement ceiling. Some will call it porn, I’ll call it performance art – it’s a lot less painful than the real deal regardless.

Amadou & Miriam premiere Africaine 808 Remix of “Bofou Safou”

Austin-based musician Eliot Lipp preps the release of Skywave; an album Lipp has been working on for the past several months. With influences from sci-fi soundtracks and 70s and 80s funk, he channels a collection of weird, high-definition, melodic beats. In these nine songs Lipp feels he “might have everything I want to say in one moment.” Recreating key musical moments in a current and relatable way was the goal in producing Skywave and giving himself permission to take some risks as well.

PETYR Unleashes New Song “Stairway to Attic”

PETYR is a psychedelic hard rock band fronted by guitarist and award-winning pro skater Riley Hawk, son of legendary skateboarder Tony Hawk. Metallica’s New Album Certified Platinum

Metallica’s Hardwired…To Self-Destruct album has been certified Platinum for selling upwards of a million albums. The band was recently presented with their plaques by Blackened Recordings executives at the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in Uniondale, NY. (See photo above)
