Hammydown has made your salad, and scooped the foam onto your cappuccino. She’s scrubbed your splattered walls and vacuumed the dust from beneath your bed on her hands and knees. She’s delivered your pizza. A boss will say time and time again that it doesn’t cost anything extra to give service with a smile. With her quirky, lyric driven garage pop, Hammydown (aka Abbie Morin) digs at the true price that she and so many people like her have to pay. Gritty guitar, and wry humor capture the plight of the millennial slacker – those who button up and drag their way through the work week, try to pursue creative passions, but still just feel like losers. Based in Northampton, Mass, Hammydown will release the debut EP Pizzaface on July 21, 2017.

GO ASK ALICE sign to LEGEND Recordings
Arizona based Go Ask Alice have signed to Legend Recordings. For two-year-old Go Ask Alice, the days of imitating artists the likes of A Day To Remember and retaining a local band mentality are in the past. As they relaunch, with LEGEND Recordings, a take-no-shit call-out full length This Album Is About You, they’re stepping boldly into New-Nü-Metal territory .
“Pre-existing fans are definitely going to be a little thrown off,” explains vocalist Tyler Samuel. “When we released ‘Revolt’ originally, it definitely caught a couple people off-guard. All the original fans still liked it because it’s definitely still Go Ask Alice, but I think overall people are going to like this album a lot more.”

This week, you can test drive the Mountain Goats’ new album Goths before it hits stores worldwide on Friday! NPR First Listen premieres the group’s 16th full-length today, saying, “Darnielle once again takes a conceptual detour. As its title suggests, it’s about growing up goth—about establishing a place for yourself among other outcasts—but it also finds the band shedding guitars and adding a fourth permanent member in multi-instrumentalist Matt Douglas… For John Darnielle, goth isn’t a sound or a style so much as a state of mind: a source of comfort and connection for the young and lost, sure, but it needn’t leave your side as you age, either.”

“Israeli singer-songwriter Noga Erez makes politically charged dance music – throbbing stuff whose aggressive, cathartic force is only magnified by messages about power and independence. Erez was recently tapped to open for Sylvan Esso on a European tour, which makes all the sense in the world: Both make grabby, stylistically inventive electro-pop that asserts itself in every note.” – NPR Music

‘Afterglow’ is the apex of the band’s growth as artists since relocating to London. It’s a rich and coruscating psychedelic soundscape replete with cannily textured production and emotive performances. Written by singer and multi-instrumentalist Yuto Uchino in the dead of night, the languorous and immersive songwriting utilises the production nous of Bradley Spence and the atmospherics of artists like Tame Impala, Dungen, Boards of Canada, and Air to make something that feels modern, vibrant and essential. It’s all an impressive sonic testament to the fact that The fin. are rapidly maturing into a league of their own. If shoegaze was the name given to floppy-haired sound savants staring at their effects units in the nineties, then The fin. have their gaze firmly levelled upward. They’re the stargazing Kobe expats blazing a trail through the intercontinental indie scene.
