Since their debut release in 2016, the band has continued to write new material and tour with an emphasis on tight musicianship and honest self expression.

Saint Etienne Premiere “Magpie Eyes” on Stereogum

Saint Etienne have announced details of Magpie Eyes, the first single to be taken from their forthcoming album, Home Counties, released on Heavenly Recordings on Friday 2nd June.

Talking about the track, Pete Wiggs of Saint Etienne said:

The title was inspired by a book about Creation records ‘my Magpie Eyes are hungry for the prize’ which in turn was taken from ‘Up The Hill Down The Slope’ by The Loft. I often find myself being so deep in thought that I’m not really listening to what my children are saying to me and I extrapolated guilty feelings over that into the story of someone who for a combination of personal ambition and commuter journey time ends up missing out on his kids growing up and not really knowing them or the ‘Herberts’ they might be hanging out with.”

New Music Video From Jermaine Hardsoul ft. Tracey Lee

If you translate the Jermaine Hardsoul sound into a musical equation it would be: traditional soulful melodies + instrumentation + muscular hip-hop beats + writing = sonic activism. Many artists, including Musiq (SoulChild), Carl Thomas, Eric Roberson and Jagged Edge, have worked with Hardsoul to create original compositions that push the boundaries of traditional R&B and progressive urban music.

Shiny Wet Machine “Euphoria”

Euphoria” is a track about the insuppressible pull towards hedonism and how the desire to pursue this visceral, carnal urge is, in reality, unquenchable and increasingly consuming. In short, the further down the rabbit hole you get, the more you need to push forward; always harder, always deeper, always faster. Sonically the track captures that feeling perfectly. As Pop Matters points out in the premiere, the track’s “short, fierce bursts of energy” are “undeniably appealing”.

Two Islands – ‘Heaven’

Amongst featuring on blogs in America, gaining support from playlists internationally, and having radio play in Peru, Two Islands’ debut track is now sitting in Amazing Radio’s top 40.

Return To The 37th Chamber from El Michels Affair is out this Friday, April 14 on Big Crown Records and the album is the highly anticipated follow up to 2009’s underground cult classic Enter the 37th Chamber. Producer and multi-instrumentalist Leon Michels (The Arcs, Menahan Street Band, Lee Fields, The Shacks) recorded the album completely analog, sometimes hitting six generations of tape before it was ready for mixing, giving the Return to The 37th Chamber it’s own hazy sound. Adding to the unique fidelity, the record is laced with psychedelic flourishes, “John Carpenter” synths, heavy metal guitars, triumphant horns, and traditional Chinese instruments that make up for the lack of the Wu’s superlative vocals.

PREMIERE: El Michels Affair ‘Return To The 37th Chamber’

Through all its peaks and valleys, the larger arc of themes within “The Fifth State Of Consciousness” surround dreams, strength, a loss of innocence, and seeking an enlightened state of being after overcoming life’s trials and tribulations.

In early 2017, she released her second track “Shutter Island”, with a fear-inducing video that premiered on Pigeons & Planes. Combined, both singles have surpassed 15M streams worldwide, both as independent releases. They’ve also earned Reyez fans like Zane Lowe and Elton John, both of whom have supported Reyez on Beats 1 Radio. Drew McDowall (ex-Coil, Psychic TV) announces ‘Unnatural Channel’ LP for Dais

After the long overdue release of Drew McDowall’s debut solo album Collapse in 2015, the experimental music underground saw McDowall as an arrival of an artist that was always here, hiding in plain sight. He was quietly in the background, pulling the levers on some of the most influential recordings in electronic music and with shifting his focus from the role as band member of such legendary acts as Coil & Psychic TV along with his recent collaborative efforts alongside Tres Warren (of Psychic Ills) in Compound Eye, McDowall came to finally identity as a singular artist and figurehead to a movement that has vitally required his presence.

Sixo shares nostalgic, Terminator-inspired “John Connor” video

For years Scotty Trimble, the former professional motocross racer and indie rap producer better known as Sixo, has questioned the validity of free will and believed that every outcome has a likelihood of occurring or not occurring. Can our actions truly be considered under our control when existing within a limited amount of variables? Are perceptions of free will merely illusion? Recently, Rome-based melancholic singer songwriter, Mes Alfie, premiered his new single on PureVolume who noted, “‘Must See New York’ is a heartfelt tribute to the city from the perspective of a tourist post-9/11.”

Mes Alfie rose the heights of success within the Italian music scene but had to strip everything back to basics to broaden his reach.

Memoryy Single “Damn Fine Predicament”

The album is ‘SKELETONS’ from Memoryy, the electro-pop project of Shaun Hettinger. He’s fresh off a great 2016, writing the new Netflix ‘Chelsea Handler’ theme song (which is returning for season two next month) and making a big name as a remixer — his official turns for Body Language, Bridgit Mendler, and Paperwhite, as well as two original tracks, all contributed to 12 chart-scaling hits on Hype Machine in 2016.

Sarantos “First 5 Seconds” Video

“For this music video I thought the story should center on love as seen through the eager eyes of a child, the hopeful eyes of a teenager and the mature eyes of an older adult. But think about it. Does love really change as we age or is that just an urban myth? Isn’t love always love? After all, love knows no real boundary. Doesn’t it just depend on our personality as opposed to being a preset based on age?

To be human is to have felt love in some way and at some point in life. Love can take many forms. Love doesn’t care about age, gender or race. Depending on age though, love might be fueled by raging hormones or offer peaceful introspection and acceptance. Maybe it does but maybe it doesn’t! Love is different for everyone but ultimately it’s still love.” Sarantos

Stages & Stereos are Back with a New Single, “Julia Gulia”

Over the last decade Stages & Stereos has evolved in progressive, yet predictable fashion. Since emerging in 2007 the band has produced melodic driving mid tempo pop/rock music while developing an honest, loyal, and genuine fan base. The band released their debut EP Anchorless in 2012 which toped the iTunes Alternative Chart at #45 and successfully embarked on their first headlining tour. Continuing in 2013, the band launch an infectious EP entitled Small Town Favorites, produced by Zack Odom and Kenneth Mount which debuted in the top 100 iTunes charts and landed a spot on The Glamour Kills tour alongside Mayday Parade, Cartel, and Man Overboard. Continuing to push the EP, the band was awarded a top contender by Alternative Press in their 100 Bands You Need to Know in 2014 issue and continued to tour with acts such as Set It Off, Our Last Night, Heartest, Go Radio, and Vanna before separating for some time.

Coast Modern breezy new track

Sometimes the only way to get ahead is to stop following the leader, and start running your own race. Coast Modern flies out of the pack with a refreshingly uninhibited sound for disenchanted dreamers everywhere. Building on an admiration for the spirit of misfit alternative bands and the fearless ethos of modern hip hop, the duo creates alternative pop with a wink that aims to push the genre into the future.
